This character cottage is situated in the heart of historic Lydford within the stunning Dartmoor National Park. A traditional Devon property, Chapel Cottage sleeps up to five people in two bedrooms upstairs: a triple with double and single bed, along with a kingsize bed in the second room. A double shower room with toilet and wash basin sits alongside the bedrooms on the first floor. On the ground floor you’ll find an open plan living space, smart TV, cosy wood burner and a kitchenette (with fridge and dishwasher). Walk through to the adjacent, main kitchen as well as a lovely walk-in pantry and there’s also access to the courtyard and garden from here. Outside you can enjoy the garden with seating areas.
The cottage is located just ¼ mile from Lydford Gorge, the deepest river gorge in the south west and has waterfalls, ancient woodland, wildlife, and beautiful year-round walks. Within walking distance, you have access to St. Petrock’s Church, Lydford Castle, two local 16t- century pubs, Lydford Farm Shop and the Granite Way, an 11-mile multi-use trail running between Lydford and Okehampton. With easy access to the moors, you are free to search the tors, Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape! The surrounding area is filled with rolling hills and magnificent scenery.
The property is perfectly located to discover Exeter city, just 40 minutes or so to the east, with its magnificent cathedral and countless other attractions. Just 7 miles south is Tavistock, a market town, with shops, restaurants, swimming pool, and cinema. Just 14 minutes northeast by car (9 miles) is Okehampton which offers shops, restaurants, train station, and many walking trails. With so much to discover in this amazing part of Devon, this property is the perfect choice for a memorable holiday at any time of year.

The Bing is a pretty, one-bedroom holiday home situated within the quintessential village of Poundsgate, in the heart of Dartmoor National Park. The cottage has been tastefully decorated throughout whilst retaining plenty of the original features dating back to the late 1700’s providing all the comfort for up to four guests to enjoy a relaxing holiday. The owners live next door within the other half of this Devon long house.
As you enter the property, you will head into the well-equipped stylish kitchen/dining room which has all the appliances needed to prepare a home-cooked meal. The living room is comfortably furnished with plenty of seating including a double sofa bed and a Smart TV with Freeview. Head upstairs to discover the charming double bedroom and the bathroom which is fitted with both a bathtub and a shower cubicle, offering the choice of a relaxing soak or a refreshing shower. Benefitting from on-road parking, that has access to fields where you are able to walk your furry friends!
The cottage is located nearby to the most famed and beloved beauty spots of Hay Tor, Hound Tor and Dartmeet. Whether on foot or on bike, there are endless routes straight from the doorstep, and the more adventurous may wish to tackle the rugged and dramatic Dartmoor tors. Along with the stunning Dartmoor National Park to explore, enjoy a long walk and a well-earned drink afterwards in one of the many historic pubs dotted around. Just a short drive away is Widecombe-in-the-Moor, renowned for its fair and its church known as ‘The Cathedral in the Moor’. With spectacular moorland and tors arising on all sides, with two lovely pubs, café and shops as well riding stables nearby, making it the perfect location for walkers, mountain bikers, riders, bird watchers or those that love dramatic landscapes.
There are lots of family friendly attractions in the area to keep you occupied during your holiday such as a visit to Buckfast Abbey, Pennywell Farm, the River Dart country park, the butterfly farm, and the otter sanctuary. The Southwest Coast Path and the local beaches of Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish are around a 40-minute drive away. Day trips to the beaches in the South Hams, such as Blackpool Sands and Goodrington Beach, also offer a great alternative for a fun day out. There are also the cathedral cities of Exeter, Plymouth, and Torbay, all of which are within an hour’s drive and even a day trip to the North Devon Coast can be enjoyed. Pub within ¼ mile. Situated on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park in the pretty village of Brentor, Chapel View offers a unique escape in beautiful surroundings. With a private garden, off road parking, a cosy, open plan living space and easy access to some of the most picturesque landscapes in the UK, this two-bedroom character cottage, recently renovated, is a perfect base to explore what Dartmoor has to offer.

After an action-packed day exploring Dartmoor, head into the restful open plan living and dining area, and unwind on the sofa or armchair, watching a film on the Smart TV with Freeview, enjoying the glows of the wood burner in the background. The well-equipped kitchen includes a double electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, Nespresso coffee pod machine and upright fridge/freezer. Head upstairs where there are two beautiful bedrooms. The first has a double bed, chest of drawers and hanging space either side in alcoves behind bed. Smart TV with Freeview, and beautiful vaulted beamed ceilings. The second room has a kingsize zip and link bed which can be setup with twin beds if requested. Wardrobes on landing. The family bathroom is on the same floor and is fitted with a shower cubicle, vanity unit, heated towel rail and toilet.

Guests can enjoy private use of the enclosed garden which is opposite the cottage behind the parking area. It’s a unique space set-up with an outdoor table and chairs for alfresco dining, a circular daybed on the raised decked area (3 steps up). On the level part of the garden there is a garden room with dining area and sofa and chair, bar/kitchen area and infra-red heater. Outside is a charcoal barbecue.


Brentor is just six miles from the historic Stannary market town of Tavistock, with its farmers’ market, boutique shops, supermarkets, bistros, pubs, and cafés. There is so much for all the family here, whether you are looking for an active break, walking, cycling, horse-riding, bird watching, golf, fishing, visiting historic houses and gardens, surfing/bodyboarding on the north coast or just wish to sit and relax with a good book. Dartmoor National Park, the Tamar Valley and Tavistock, the gateway to the Cornish Mining World Heritage Site, are all within easy reach.

The property’s West-Devon location means that it is possible to reach both the north and south coasts of Cornwall and Devon in under an hour, and of particular interest, are the fishing village of Looe, King Arthur’s Tintagel, and the National Trust village of Boscastle. There are also plenty of local beauty spots nearby, including the Lydford Gorge, Burrator Reservoir, Dartmoor Zoo, Castle Drogo and the historic Buckland Abbey. This cosy and comfortable holiday property is set in a quiet courtyard located just off the main street of the little town of Buckfastleigh. The Butterfly Farm, Otter sanctuary and the South Devon Railway with steam trains to Totnes are a short walk away. The well-known medieval monastery of Buckfast Abbey with its various craft shops is also within easy walking distance. Kay’s Cottage provides an excellent base for touring Dartmoor and the South Devon coast. With quick access to Plymouth and Exeter, it also allows plenty of time for day trips to Cornwall and other Devon attractions, north and east. Shop 30 yards, pub 300 yards.

A charming terraced stone cottage, located in one of the little side lanes off the main fore street in the village of Buckfastleigh. Mill Cottage is a cosy holiday home with beamed interior and enclosed lawned rear garden. This property is a good family size and for the outdoor type. Buckfastleigh is a great base from which to explore the area. Buckfastleigh is located on the fringes of Dartmoor National Park, within easy access of the A38 making Devon very accessible. The village has an outdoor, public swimming pool, and is well known for the steam railway, and the butterfly and otter sanctuary, which are all great family attractions. This detached holiday property, tucked away down a country lane and a few paces away from the owners’ home, is set on the outskirts of the village of Brentor (1 mile), which is situated within the Dartmoor National Park. This cosy barn conversion is ideal for a couple who want to ’get away from it all’, and who love the great outdoors, with open moorland ¼ mile. There are fabulous walks nearby, including the iconic landmark of the tiny church of St. Michael; perched high on the rocky tor outcrop just outside the village. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Situated within the Dartmoor National Park, set back from a beautiful, leafy stretch of the B3212 and a mile from Doccombe, these three, lodge-style properties (refs W43911, 28924), accessed via a track, are adjacent to the owners’ home. The holiday lodges lie in a lovely setting that offer a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. There are 10 acres of beautiful, ancient woodland, complete with a stream winding its way through the land, plus an abundance of wildlife, ponds and granite boulders. A rich variety of plants and woodland flowers offer an idyllic haven for the resident wildlife. This is a brilliant area for walking, relaxing and star gazing as there is no light pollution. Nearby, a golf club and horse riding over Dartmoor are available. Being in the midst of Dartmoor, there are many superb walks, reservoirs, heather-clad tors and Dartmoor ponies. There are many places of interest for the whole family. If you are a keen walker, the Teign Valley is well known for its delightful woodland footpaths. It is an area of outstanding beauty and in the springtime, the Dunsford woods are famous for beautiful natural daffodils and a little later, a carpet of bluebells. Hunters Lodge is a one bedroom property styled as a Swiss alpine retreat, and has been stylishly furnished with everything a guest could need for their stay. The open plan living space has a 50" Smart TV with Netflix, a dining table with four chairs and a fully equipped kitchen. with an oven.
Outside the lodge is an enclosed gravelled garden area with seating and a gas barbecue, perfect for dining al fresco on sunny days. Guests are welcome to interact with the animals on site, which include horses, goats, chickens, chicks (depending on the time of year), geese, rabbits and cats.
The lodge is only 3 miles away from Torquay with its palm-lined promenades, shops, restaurants, pubs, cafés and vibrant nightlife. There are several beaches accessible from Torquay town centre by foot and road, as well as its harbour and marina.
Visit nearby Dartmoor National Park with it’s rugged and stunning scenery. You can see the ponies, walk the Tors or simply stop off in one of the many villages for a Devon cream tea.
Paignton, Torquay and Brixham are also great places to visit, as are Exeter and Plymouth, both within a 30-minute drive. There are many National Trust properties in the area, including Agatha Christie’s summer home ’Greenway’, well worth a visit.
For the children, there is Crealy Adventure Park or Go Ape in Haldon. If you are bringing a bicycle, there are many cycle ways off road to be explored, including Powderham Castle where there is a cycle track all along the estuary.
There is also no shortage of day-trip destinations including the Living Coasts Zoo, Round Robin Bus Trip, Paignton Zoo, Woodlands Adventure Park, Babbacombe Model Village and Kents Cavern.
