Situated within the Dartmoor National Park, set back from a beautiful, leafy stretch of the B3212 and a mile from Doccombe, these three, lodge-style properties (refs W43911, 28924), accessed via a track, are adjacent to the owners’ home. The holiday lodges lie in a lovely setting that offer a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. There are 10 acres of beautiful, ancient woodland, complete with a stream winding its way through the land, plus an abundance of wildlife, ponds and granite boulders. A rich variety of plants and woodland flowers offer an idyllic haven for the resident wildlife. This is a brilliant area for walking, relaxing and star gazing as there is no light pollution. Nearby, a golf club and horse riding over Dartmoor are available. Being in the midst of Dartmoor, there are many superb walks, reservoirs, heather-clad tors and Dartmoor ponies. There are many places of interest for the whole family. If you are a keen walker, the Teign Valley is well known for its delightful woodland footpaths. It is an area of outstanding beauty and in the springtime, the Dunsford woods are famous for beautiful natural daffodils and a little later, a carpet of bluebells. It is just a short walk down to the ancient stannery town of Tavistock, a friendly town with World Heritage status. The vibrant town offers a unique selection of independent shops offering locally produced food. The famous pannier market is not to be missed and there are an excellent selection of cafés and restaurants within walking distance. You will be spoilt for choice with excellent walking and cycling routes close by. There are stunning views from Magnolia House over the town towards Dartmoor National Park which is the largest and wildest area of open countryside in the south of England with its ancient woodland and granite tors. There are many stunning beaches to explore on the South Devon and Cornwall coasts and many National Trust properties including Cothele House, Saltram House, Lydford Gorge, Buckland Abbey and Castle Drogo. Golf, fishing and horse riding are all on offer close by and for a great day out, Plymouth, 12 miles has shops, theatres, the National Marine Aquarium and historic Barbican. Beach 16 miles. This cosy and comfortable holiday property is set in a quiet courtyard located just off the main street of the little town of Buckfastleigh. The Butterfly Farm, Otter sanctuary and the South Devon Railway with steam trains to Totnes are a short walk away. The well-known medieval monastery of Buckfast Abbey with its various craft shops is also within easy walking distance. Kay’s Cottage provides an excellent base for touring Dartmoor and the South Devon coast. Located in stunning Dartmoor National Park, The Farmers Den is a lovely annexe that sleeps up to three people in a large comfortable bedroom, boasting a four-poster king-size bed you won’t want to get out of in the morning, and a single-day bed as well. There’s an open plan living area with two sofas, a tub chair and foldaway table and chairs, and a kitchenette prepared with a fridge, microwave and a two-plate induction hob. Entertainment is provided by way of a TV with an integrated DVD player and an Amazon Firestick. If you fancy playing some board games, the owners will be happy to supply you with a selection. Through a door in the lounge area, you will find the spacious and bright contemporary shower room with a double walk-in shower, and outside there is a seating area on one of the fields adjacent to the wedding barn that the owner also runs on-site.
The views from here are truly wonderful! There is parking available directly outside the annexe for two cars and on arrival, you may be welcomed by Martha, Fergie and Holly, the owner’s three very friendly and bouncy dogs! The property is located within stunning Dartmoor National Park where you can enjoy a day of walking, while discovering the vast moorland and roam the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and rock formations or tors. The entrance to the moors is literally at the end of the driveway. Search the Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape! The surrounding area is filled with rolling hills and magnificent scenery.
The property is on the outskirts of the historic village of Lydford, boasting the famous Lydford Gorge with its magnificent waterfall, the 11 mile granite way takes you from Okehampton through Lydford to Meldon, passing through Meldon viaduct and the impressive Bluebell woods. not forgetting the lovely two 16th-century inns and, both so relaxing to chill out and eat. Tavistock lies 7 miles to the south which has been granted a world heritage site rating, and Okehampton lies 8 miles to the North, both bustling market towns seeping with history and many unique shops and markets to explore. The wide golden sands of Bude and Widemouth Bay are just under an hour away, with excellent surfing, pretty coves and dramatic coastal walks, shopping, leisure facilities, restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Holsworthy is 24 miles away and offers a good selection of local shops, supermarkets and a weekly market. Coastal and country walking, golf, surfing, fishing, horse riding and cycling are all on offer within the region and Dartmoor National Park is a must for nature and rugged scenery lovers. The property is perfectly located to discover lovely Exeter city, just 40 minutes away to the east with its magnificent cathedral and countless other attractions.
