You can settle down at a pub, or find an idyllic spot to enjoy a picnic whilst taking in the spectacular scenery. Meldon Reservoir is just 8 miles away and offers fishing, water sports and lovely lakeside walks. The pretty towns of Okehampton and Tavistock are close by, and there are also many beautiful gardens including RHS Rosemoor and The Lost Gardens of Heligan within easy reach. Devon and Cornwall offer fantastic coastal walking and boast sandy beaches and hidden coves, ideal for surfing or exploring the many rock pools. Fishing, tennis, horse riding, pony trekking and an 18-hole golf course are all close by. The Tarka Trail is one of the country’s longest, traffic-free, walking and cycling paths, and forms part of the Devon Coast to Coast cycle route. Beach 27 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 350 yards.

The large bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet and light up mirror, there is also a second separate toilet. Outside, you have two private courtyard spaces, both of which are fully enclosed and have seating areas where you can sit back and relax or enjoy an al fresco meal. Your four legged family members are able to run around in this area. You also have use of the owner’s enchanting landscaped gardens that lead down to the River Barle, where you are able to spend time fishing as the owners have the rights to this part of the river! *Please keep your dogs on the lead in the main gardens due to the owner’s chickens and ducks.
When staying at Withymead Cottage, you are lucky enough to be staying in one of Exmoor’s most picturesque villages, with its river meandering through, a fabulous tea room, well stocked local shop and a 17th-century pub, it truly is the English countryside at its finest. Miles and miles of walks head off in every direction or jump in your car and discover more of the area, such as Tarr Steps or the beautiful north coast towns of Porlock and Lynton. For more history head to the Medieval village of Dunster and visit the Castle then jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway and chug along the coast and through the countyside.

Orchard Barn is a luxurious and spacious three-bedroom barn conversion just outside the small village of South Tawton. Set on a working farm close to Dartmoor National Park, it has been lovingly renovated by the owners in 2021 and lies in a rural setting.

Standing detached, it greets guests with a delicious welcome pack of thoughtfully provided fresh local produce. The owners can supply award winning meat (105 awards) for your stay and their neighbour can supply you with quiches, scones, so you can have a night free from cooking.
The open plan living space includes a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely dining and living area with a wood burner for the cooler months and air conditioning for the summer. The kitchen has a beautiful island worktop with a couple of stools, the perfect spot to plan your day over a morning coffee, and later you can gather round the striking oak dining table for a celebratory meal. The spacious living area combines traditional features of the barn with contemporary touches, and heading upstairs you will find three comfortable bedrooms, each with a super kingsize bed (two of the zip and link bedrooms can be split to accommodate four children in one bedroom if required), two with an en-suite shower room, and the other bedroom has use of the family bathroom featuring a luxurious roll-top bath.

Sit outside and enjoy peace in the garden beside the apple orchard, with its outdoor seating, picnic benches and barbecue with complimentary pack of charcoal. There is also an outside dog shower with hot and cold water. The external games room is a great additional space, featuring a table tennis, pool table, space to store bicycles and surfboards, a washing machine and a tumble dryer.

Set on the north eastern edge of the stunning Dartmoor National Park with walks and cycle paths from your doorstep, you can easily explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and discover the local wildlife, including the iconic Dartmoor ponies. Okehampton is a short distance way and has a good selection of shops, amenities and castle, or walk along the Tarka Trail and the old railway to Meldon reservoir. National Trust Castle Drogo is also nearby for a visit, and Devon’s bustling resorts and beautiful beaches are just a short drive away, including Teignmouth, Dawlish and Exmouth (reached in 40 minutes).

Splash Cottage is a two-bedroom granite-built cottage set within Dartmoor National Park in the hamlet of Ponsworthy, near the village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. Peacefully set at the end of a row of picturesque, thatched cottages with a quaint ford running across the road, this holiday home has plenty of charm and character and offers a unique escape with spectacular surroundings.
The most famed beauty spot and well-loved ancient tor, Haytor Rock, is just a 13-minute drive away. Whether on foot or on bike, there are endless routes straight from the doorstep and the more adventurous may wish to tackle the rugged and dramatic Dartmoor Tors. As you head into the cottage you will enter into cosy living and dining area which showcases beautiful beamed ceilings, comfortable seating, a Smart TV with freesat and Sky and a wood burner (the first bundle of logs and kindling are provided). This then leads through to the utility area which has a washing machine, tumble dryer and the only bathroom in the property with a shower over the bath, toilet and sink.

There are two comfortable bedrooms on the first floor, one with a standard double bed and the other with a zip and link king-size bed which can be set-up with 2ft 6in twin beds if requested.
The cottage is based directly adjacent to the Two Moors Way footpath, popular with walkers and offers a 116-mile coast-to-coast trail linking Wembury in South Devon to Lynmouth in North Devon. Steeped in folklore, Widecombe-in-the-Moor is just 2.3 miles away and is widely known as Dartmoor’s most famous village with the spectacular moorland and tors rising up on all sides, making it a perfect location for walkers, mountain bikers, riders, bird watchers or those that love dramatic landscapes. The village is made up of a mixture of granite-built houses and a lovely old church known as the ‘cathedral of the moor’. There are a couple of good food pubs, a café for cream teas and gift shops. A 15-minute drive brings you to the charming town of Ashburton, with its independent shops, antique shops and cafés.
The Southwest coastal path and the local beaches of Teignmouth, Shaldon and Dawlish are around a 40-minute drive away. Day trips to the beaches in the South Hams such as Blackpool Sands and Goodrington Beach also offer a great alternative for a fun day-out and they are within an hour’s drive. Bovey Castle is 15 minutes’ drive away, Gidleigh Park is 25 minutes, 45 minutes from the cathedral city of Exeter and 30 minutes to Tavistock. Little Meadow is perfect for those looking for a holiday within Dartmoor National Park. Located in the pretty moorland village of Hexworthy, this cottage is perfect for small families or couples, especially those wanting to take their dog. This detached cottage sits within its own grounds and has a small stream to one side of the garden.

The cottage is a short walk away from the local pub which serves good food. From Little Meadow, access to the moor is easy. The West Dart River runs through the village and there are some magical spots for picnicking and having a paddle in the river, as well as a number of wonderful walks to be had directly from the cottage, following along the river and up onto Dartmoor.

During your stay, there is much to see and do. Just up the road is the curious world of Pixieland, a visitor attraction/garden gnome manufacturer! Widecombe-in-the-Moor boasts two excellent, characterful pubs serving locally sourced food, the world-famous church known as ‘Cathedral on the Moors’, a National Trust shop, a post office, gift shops and several tea rooms. Castle Drogo, a National Trust property, is the last castle to have been built in England.

Within 40 miles are the two picturesque villages of Chagford and Moretonhampstead, with historic inns, excellent pubs, tea rooms, curiosity shops, tennis courts and the Miniature Pony Centre. Or, perhaps pay a visit to Princetown with its famous gaol and visitors centre. The market towns of Tavistock and Ashburton offer a very good variety of shops and local amenities. Within 20 miles are Bigbury-on-Sea and Dawlish, with a beach and nature reserve. Slapton Sands and Torcross are 22 miles away, or Torquay which is within easy reach. Withymead is close to many of the regions popular tourist attractions and local beaches. Exeter and the English Riviera are a short drive away, and this property is ideal if you are a keen walker, with the South West Coastal Path and Dartmoor also nearby.

The Old School House is a superb property situated in Horrabridge, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park.
It’s an extremely spacious 5000 square foot, late-Victorian former schoolhouse, built in 1875 of local stone and slate. This beautiful seven-bedroom holiday home comfortably accommodates up to twenty two guests and presents a wonderful base for a group of family and friends to enjoy a luxurious and relaxing break. The property showcases two hot tubs, six bathrooms, bath tubs lavishly positioned in two of the bedrooms, a games room, large garden, and a children’s play area. The main part of the building on the ground floor has a magnificent large kitchen and dining area with seating for up to twenty guests, an island worktop, exquisite quartz countertops and plenty of appliances. Other features include a pantry, boot room, cloakroom, the enormous living room with two large seating areas and a wood burner, patio doors opening out into the garden and a games room with a pool table and dartboard.
The annexed area at the far end can be accessed through a connecting hallway or via a separate entrance and it contains an additional open plan kitchen, living and dining area, a shower room and a staircase leading to the two bedrooms above. Horrabridge is a beautiful village with a village green and medieval bridge on the banks of the River Walkham. It is serviced by a selection of shops including a post office and stores, bakery, fish and chip shop, art gallery and two pubs. Tavistock, a nearby thriving market town rich in history and tradition dating back to the 10th century, just 3½ miles away to the northwest.

Located in stunning Dartmoor National Park, The Farmers Den is a lovely annexe that sleeps up to three people in a large comfortable bedroom, boasting a four-poster king-size bed you won’t want to get out of in the morning, and a single-day bed as well. Through a door in the lounge area, you will find the spacious and bright contemporary shower room with a double walk-in shower, and outside there is a seating area on one of the fields adjacent to the wedding barn that the owner also runs on-site.
The views from here are truly wonderful! There is parking available directly outside the annexe for two cars and on arrival, you may be welcomed by Martha, Fergie and Holly, the owner’s three very friendly and bouncy dogs! The property is located within stunning Dartmoor National Park where you can enjoy a day of walking, while discovering the vast moorland and roam the craggy landscape, defined by forests, rivers, wetlands and rock formations or tors. The entrance to the moors is literally at the end of the driveway. Search the Neolithic tombs, Bronze Age stone circles and abandoned medieval farmhouses in this amazing landscape! The surrounding area is filled with rolling hills and magnificent scenery.
The property is on the outskirts of the historic village of Lydford, boasting the famous Lydford Gorge with its magnificent waterfall, the 11 mile granite way takes you from Okehampton through Lydford to Meldon, passing through Meldon viaduct and the impressive Bluebell woods. not forgetting the lovely two 16th-century inns and, both so relaxing to chill out and eat.
