Situated within the Dartmoor National Park, set back from a beautiful, leafy stretch of the B3212 and a mile from Doccombe, these three, lodge-style properties (refs W43911, 28924), accessed via a track, are adjacent to the owners’ home. The holiday lodges lie in a lovely setting that offer a comfortable base from which to explore the surrounding area. There are 10 acres of beautiful, ancient woodland, complete with a stream winding its way through the land, plus an abundance of wildlife, ponds and granite boulders. A rich variety of plants and woodland flowers offer an idyllic haven for the resident wildlife. This is a brilliant area for walking, relaxing and star gazing as there is no light pollution. Nearby, a golf club and horse riding over Dartmoor are available. Being in the midst of Dartmoor, there are many superb walks, reservoirs, heather-clad tors and Dartmoor ponies. There are many places of interest for the whole family. If you are a keen walker, the Teign Valley is well known for its delightful woodland footpaths. It is an area of outstanding beauty and in the springtime, the Dunsford woods are famous for beautiful natural daffodils and a little later, a carpet of bluebells. Scenery Cottage is a quaint cottage in the centre of the ancient village of Bridford, high up on the eastern edge of Dartmoor. The cottage, which accommodates up to four adults, is believed to be over 200 years old and was once the village school. Scenery Cottage is close to the 17th century Thomas Becket Church as well as the highly recommended Bridford Inn. Best of all, the cottage looks out over wonderful scenery (hence the name) and there are stunning walks literally from the doorstep. Whilst it is the perfect place for a long weekend break, there is more than enough to do and see to reward an extended stay too. The cottage has a kitchen/dining area which is fully equipped and with a wood burner. After a fun filled day exploring Devon, you can kick back on the sofa in the cosy living room, relax and watch your favourite programme on the Smart Freeview TV. Heading up to the first floor, there are two comfortably furnished bedrooms. One has a double bed and an en-suite shower room and the other has twin beds. On the same level is the family bathroom which has a beautiful freestanding bath.
Bridford is located in the beautiful Teign Valley, providing an excellent base from which to explore this wonderful area. Although very popular with walkers and horse riders, the village is not on the usual tourist trail and has remained unspoilt. This area is one of Dartmoor’s best kept secrets, a quiet, traditional village set in beautiful countryside in an area that has been captivating visitors for generations. The magical waterfalls, lakes and ancient woodlands of Canonteign Falls are just 4 miles away as well as the Teign Valley Golf Course. The wild bird sanctuary and reserve at Dawlish Warren is nearby, as is Dartmoor National Park which offers excellent opportunities for outdoor pursuits including walks around the local reservoirs and to explore the various different tors on the moorland.

Lemon Cottage is a fantastic 2021 refurbished self-catering holiday property nearby to the owner’s property, in the village of Bickington. Bickington is a village and civil parish in the Teignbridge district of Devon, England, on the east edge of the Dartmoor National Park. The village is about five miles west of Newton Abbot, on the River Lemon. The cottage is also just a 5-minute drive away from the nearby town of Ashburton, with its fantastic local antique shops, restaurants & bakery. In addition, Lemon Cottage is a 10-minute drive from Dartmoor and the famous Haytor Rock, a great day out for walking/hiking with a picnic and taking in the natural beauty and wildlife.

As you enter Lemon Cottage, there is a handy area for your coats and shoes along with dog beds for those four-legged friends. There is also a wet room by the front door, perfect for rinsing down after a day on the beach, or cleaning up mucky paws. Through the entrance hallway and into the fitted kitchen with breakfast bar overlooking the living/dining area. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

These properties are are situated in 10½ acres of unspoilt natural grounds on the edge of Dartmoor. All three barn conversions are set in a row in a courtyard setting, close to the owner’s home, smallholding and 5-pitch certified caravan site. The holiday properties are eco-friendly with solar panels, air source heat pumps and an environmentally-friendly hot water system. Walkers can explore Dartmoor, spot wild ponies, cross ancient stone bridges spanning the River Dart, and admire the Tors. Visit Castle Drogo, Lydford Gorge, Buckfast Abbey, Torbay, Kingswear and Dartmouth Castles. Exeter, with its stunning cathedral, is a short drive. North Devon has plenty to see and do, and is home to some of the best beaches in the country including Woolacombe and Saunton. The nearest beach is at Instow and is ideal for children or just a great place to walk off life’s stresses, and then enjoy a meal or drink at one of the pubs and restaurants along the front. The town of Great Torrington is only a short drive away and has most amenities you may require. The larger regional town of Barnstaple has a busy high street, the Pannier Market and famous Butchers Row. There are numerous places of interest close by including the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Dartington Crystal and the historic fishing village at Clovelly. For the younger ones a visit to the Big Sheep or Milky Way Adventure Parks is a good option. There is walking on Dartmoor or hire a bike and cycle the Tarka Trail, and there is also golf and fishing available locally.

With views of the sea as you approach this holiday property, Honeysuckle Bay Cottage is one half of a 17th-century former public house, which has been tastefully decorated and furnished offering spacious accommodation. This semi-detached house has views across Torbay from upstairs, with a balcony in the main bedroom. Close by are Napoleonic forts, which are now part of the Berry Head Nature Reserve, and can be visited at any time.
