Set in Swaledale in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with superb walking literally from the door, it is ideally situated for visiting the market towns of Hawes, Leyburn, Reeth and Richmond. 24 hour laundry service can be arranged with the owner. This traditional semi-detached, stone built cottage is Ideally situated in the heart of Gunnerside, close to Gunnerside Gill, which flows through the middle of the village, and which you can follow up to the ruined lead mines and onto the fells.
A scenic drive through Upper Swaledale takes you over the stunning Buttertubs Pass to the market town of Hawes with a plethora of shops, pubs and tea rooms, and on through Wensleydale, better known as the home of Wensleydale cheese from the Wallace and Gromit animations.
A little further afield is Aysgarth with its stunning riverside walks and amazing waterfalls. Leyburn is also a popular market town, again with shops and tea rooms. Also close to Leyburn is Middleham with its Norman castle dating back to the 12th century, and connections to King Richard lll. Middleham is also well known for ‘The Gallops’ where racehorses are trained.
The slightly larger market town of Richmond is within easy reach by car or bus and is well worth a vist. Here you will find yet another Norman castle, and a large cobbled market square surrounded by a shops, pubs and tea rooms, and there is even a Georgian theatre.
Also worth a visit is the Forbidden Corner, an amazing Folly which makes an exciting day out for all the family, with secret passages, surprises at every turn, weird and wonderful gardens and a café for well deserved refreshments after all the excitement! This attractive cottage rests in the village of Gargrave, on the edge of Yorkshire Dales National Park, which is the location for the new TV series of All Creatures Great and Small and only 15 miles from Haworth famous for the Brontës and setting for the new and old Railway Children films. It is an ideal location with everything you need in the village, but the countryside right on your doorstep, with the Pennine Way and Settle Carlisle Railway both a short walk away and the river 100 yards away for picnics. Gateway to the Lakes but also close to well-known cities such as Blackpool, Manchester and Leeds (45 minutes’ by train). Links to London or Edinburgh with only one change of train.

Sycamore Cottage was originally a barn, dating from the heyday of the lead mining industry. It has been furnished to create a homely atmosphere and is the ideal property in which to kick back and relax. The charming garden is enclosed and provides a small lawn and a nice eating area, as well as a higher patio area with lovely views. Situated just a couple of minutes’ walk from the centre of Grassington, it is on the Dales Way and so well placed for both long hill walking and easier riverside walking straight from the door.
Take advantage of Grassington’s wide selection of pubs, restaurants and cafés, together with interesting independent shops, or in the local town hall, you can play snooker or badminton. A little further afield lies the bustling market town of Skipton, where you can enjoy canal cruises, golf, or the indoor swimming pool. Although there are no great views from inside the property, the secluded and cosy interior, large communal kitchen, and great village location with parking for two cars, more than compensates. Masham, renowned for the Black Sheep Brewery, is 10 minutes’ drive and Richmond with its Norman castle, Georgian architecture and thriving theatre is also easily accessible.
