Tastefully decorated, it is ideal for exploring Perthshire. Castle Menzies stands north of the River Tay at Weem, close to Aberfeldy. There are many activities including walking and cycling trails, horse riding, water sports on Loch Tay, fishing and golf including Gleneagles, just a short drive. In a splendid location in highland Perthshire, Frith View overlooks the lochan and deer park. This is the perfect location for friends and family to spend time together and explore this area of natural beauty. It is a spacious and bright contemporary detached lodge furnished to an excellent standard. The living areas have floor to ceiling windows so you can take advantage of the ever changing views. Patio doors lead to the private decked area and is ideal for watching the stars at night. The country park, which comprises of several holiday lodges and is accessed via a rough track, covers 35 acres with a lochan that is a haven for wildlife all year round. A great location for exploring the great outdoors there are activities to suit all. For the energetic, there are seven munros to climb within 10 miles, including Ben Lawers, Perthshire’s highest mountain. Schiehallion, Dun Beag and Dun Coillich can be seen from Frith View. It is also ideal countryside for cycling and mountain biking in the forests.

For a day out, and only 5 miles along the road at the end of Loch Tay, is the pretty conservation village of Kenmore where guests can enjoy riverside walks, participate in water sports, take a boat trip on the loch or discover several excellent places to eat. The Croft na Caber Centre, which is a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water is one of the most renowned watersports centres in Scotland. The village hosts regular events, each January there is a ceremony to mark the opening of the salmon fishing season, as the Tay is one of the finest angling rivers, and there is a firework display at New Year. Aberfeldy is only a 20 minutes drive with local interesting independent shops, a supermarket, galleries, eating places, a community run cinema and an award-winning book shop. The famous Dewar’s Whisky Distillery offers tour and sampling and there are riverside walks and white water rafting for the more adventurous. A Highland safari takes you up into the mountains to see local wildlife including deer, peregrine falcons, ospreys and golden eagles. This area has many historic buildings, castles and gardens which you can visit to discover the rich history of the area. Shop 9 miles, pub and restaurant 8 miles.

In addition, less than 3 miles away you will discover the historic village of Kenmore which has a post office, golf, pub, water sports, iron age settlement and Hotbox outdoor spa all situated at one end of Loch Tay.

After a busy day exploring the picturesque area or indulging in activities the cottage is the perfect place to return to with showroom standard bathrooms to get refreshed in, a well-equipped kitchen to refuel you, three bright and spacious bedrooms upstairs with ultra-cosy beds, Egyptian cotton bedlinen and blackout blinds/curtains to ensure a restful night’s sleep.

The delightful sitting room has a wood burning stove and deep, comfortable sofas, making it a cosy retreat for all seasons and especially during chilly winter evenings with a smart TV and Netflix.
The cottage is surrounded by stunning countryside which is famed for its natural beauty and has French doors leading to the gated garden just across the courtyard through which runs the Keltney Burn (small river), where you can sit and enjoy a barbeque on our Weber BBQ or have your meal on the garden table with a view over the flowing water. (When in the garden we recommend young children are supervised).

Not to be missed is the Fortingall Yew, at 5,000 years it is probably the oldest tree in Europe.
Interestingly, it was already ancient when the Romans came this way and legend has it that Fortingall was the birthplace of Pontius Pilate.

The area is ideal for numerous outdoor pursuits including fishing, golfing, walking, mountain biking and water sports (kayaking, rafting, canyoning). Low level, forest and mountain walks are virtually on the doorstep. Walkers can enjoy everything from level woodland strolls to the challenges of Glen Lyon, one of the loveliest of Scottish glens and teeming with wildlife, including the elusive capercaillie. Mountain bikers have Drummond Hill on the doorstep with miles of tracks whilst, for walkers, the famous nearby Schiehallion (one of many local Munros) can be reached within minutes.

For a more exhilarating walk, head to the Deil’s Cauldron where the River Lednoch cascades through a rocky gorge. There is a very scenic golf course, fishing, bowling and Loch Earn, 6 miles away, offering sailing and watersports.

For a family day out Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is a short drive away and has much to offer all ages with a children’s play area, covered walkway to view the wildlife and a restaurant. The cottage retains much of its original character and has a wonderfully secluded feel, set on high ground and surrounded by nature and an abundance of birds, red squirrel, pheasants, deer and wildlife. Outside there’s a woodland and spacious garden, although you may find it hard to tear your eyes from the stunning views! The outdoor firepit is memorising on a clear night with the twinkly stars. Ardross welcomes well behaved dogs!

Gardeners’ cottage is a unique property comprising of three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin with an ample shower room on the first floor. On the ground floor there is a sunroom looking onto the enclosed private walled garden, a utility with toilet, the kitchen dining space is well-equipped and lighting can be adjusted to suit the mood.
The living room has a baby grand piano, record player and a wood burner, which makes it ideal for relaxing with friends and family or just reading a book in a tranquil setting. During the summer the walled garden is a treat to behold, there is a seating area and is an enclosed space for dogs and children. There is a spacious lawn to the front of the which is not enclosed so pets or young children will need to be supervised. If you need to work while staying at the cottage there is high speed fibre broadband which has recently been installed.
Located six miles from the historic city of Perth, Gardeners Cottage offers a rural location with forest walks and cycle rides on the doorstep. Also, the lochs and river Tay network provide plenty of opportunities for water sports such as wild swimming, canoeing, white water rafting and stand up paddle boarding.
