This single-storey, semi-detached barn conversion, next to the owners’ home, has been renovated with great attention to detail, with eco-friendly, underfloor air source heating throughout and a very good standard of fixtures and fittings. Beams have been left exposed, and there is a large open-plan living area make this a great area in which to socialise with all the family and friends together.

Explore both the coast and the countryside from this property, as it is an excellent base for walking and touring. The Yorkshire Wolds, one of Britain’s best kept secrets, runs to the south of the village, and there is miles and miles of long countryside walks. The North Yorkshire Moors and the east coast are just a short drive away, and the seaside resorts of Filey and Scarborough have great beaches for the family for that traditional seaside holiday. Within the hour you can be in the city of York with its abundance of renowned attractions, including the iconic Minster, Castle Museum and the Jorvik Viking Centre. This cosy detached cottage making a romantic retreat, is Grade II listed and dates back to 1760. It has been tastefully renovated to a very good standard and benefits from an underfloor heated limestone tiled floor throughout the ground floor. Outside there is a large, enclosed, riverside garden, on the opposite side of a road that leads directly into the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It has a shared patio with a sitting-out area, a further riverside secluded seating area, garden furniture, BBQ and summerhouse. Although shared with the owners it is available to guests and their pets to enjoy at all times. Within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, East Ayton is a village just a few minutes’ drive from the seafront at Scarborough. The village has all the amenities you could wish for with a post office, shop, garage and local pub as well as an excellent fish restaurant. The cottage is just off the main street on the lane leading further into the National Park and towards Hackness. This property is an ideal place for the walkers or cyclists amongst you, with great trails right on your doorstep. From the large riverside orchard garden there are open views across the valley to the castle that dates back to 1390. Cycling is also very popular in the area as this forms part of the Tour de Yorkshire route. The Dalby Forest is close by with cycle trails for all abilities and home to the World Cup Trail, a challenging 4 mile route, or for beginners, there are plenty more leisurely routes. The cottage is an ideal base to visit all that Yorkshire has to offer from the North Yorkshire Moors to the Wolds and the beautiful east coast, and coarse fishing is available direct onto the River Derwent at the bottom of the garden with brown trout and grayling. Breathtaking sea views of both the North and South Bays can be enjoyed from nearly all the rooms in this imposing, Grade II listed Georgian town house which is peacefully situated on the headland under the shadow of Scarborough’s historic castle and opposite St Mary’s church, the final resting place of Anne Brontë. Whilst retaining many original features, the house has been refurbished to an exceptional standard. The first and second floor bedrooms enjoy either North or South Bay views. The first floor bedroom has a super-kingsize bed, original tiled fireplace and a magnificent en-suite with a raised bath and separate shower. The three bedrooms on the second floor have, respectively, a kingsize oak bed, a French double bed and twin beds. In the lower-ground floor sitting room there is a living flame gas fire.
The property has a spectacular clifftop garden with 180-degree North Bay and castle views, as well as a hot tub. Positioned a 5-minute walk from the heart of the town and a 10-minute walk from the beach, this makes a perfect base for exploring Britain’s original seaside resort with its sandy, accredited North Bay beach, award-winning Sea Life Marine Sanctuary and working harbour with small fishing fleet. On the south side there are boat trips around the bay and a great choice of restaurants, bars, cafes and traditional seaside stalls. Music lovers can visit the Scarborough Spa, which stages regular concerts and is home to the UK’s only remaining professional seaside orchestra, book tickets to the Open Air Theatre (past performers include Elton John and Duran Duran) or enjoy live music or karaoke in the town’s lively pubs. The famous Stephen Joseph Theatre offers an impressive evening programme of theatre and film, including plays by Scarborough’s very own Alan Ayckbourn.
Shops and pubs are 220 yards from the house and the North Bay, Old Town and town centre attractions are within walking distance. Scarborough has superb independent shops, especially at the historic Indoor Market, and countless family-friendly attractions, such as the Alpamare water slides and the quaint North Bay Railway. For energetic visitors, there’s surfing, paddleboarding, bodyboarding, golf and outstanding walking, both by the sea and inland. Further north along the Heritage coast lie the smugglers’ coves of Robin Hood’s Bay and Staithes, and the North York Moors National Park is easily accessible with its steam railway, pretty villages and spectacular scenery.

Ryndle Corner is a beautiful, detached house overlooking Peasholm Park, one of the finest locations in Scarborough and voted one of the best parks in the UK. The park has stunning gardens and wildlife, and lots of leisurely walks can be taken here. The park is also home to the world famous Naval Warfare, a unique miniature sea battle that is re-enacted. There are plenty of rowing boats and pedaloes that you can explore the lake on or if you prefer a more leisurely ride there’s the swan launch motor boat. During the summer season there are regular concerts in the park. The park also boasts an 18-hole mini golf course so there’s plenty to do right on your doorstep.
As well as Peasholm Park you are close to the cricket ground where the famous summer festival gives you the opportunity to see county cricket at its best. Ryndle Corner is a short stroll from the North Bay’s long sandy beach, which makes it a great location for a family holiday. Just down the hill is the Open Air Theatre, the largest open air amphitheatre in Europe where, during the summer season, you can enjoy concerts from world renowned artists. The Alpamare waterpark, offering water slides and a wave machine, is only a 10-minute stroll away. The location of Ryndle Corner means there really is something for everyone right on the doorstep!
The long wide sandy beach has won awards for cleanliness making it perfect for families. For the more adventurous, surfing lessons can be booked from the surf shop just down the hill. Scarborough boasts two beaches with a long, flat promenade where you can enjoy early evening strolls. The castle stands proud on the hillside separating the two bays. The South Bay is more vibrant with the amusements and shops, and the North Bay is the quieter, more peaceful area. For those of you who like evening entertainment, the Stephen Joseph Theatre is close by. Famous for the world premieres of almost all of Alan Ayckbourn’s plays, the theatre is well worth a visit. There are plenty of good bars and restaurants all within walking distance. Scarborough is a great base to see what the east coast has to offer.
Ryndle Corner is the perfect base for walkers too, being situated only a few miles from the famous North York Moors National Park, or you can walk part of the Cleveland Way along the rugged coast. Just a short drive and you can visit Whitby, Flamborough, Bridlington and the famous RSPB cliffs at Bempton where you can see the puffins and gannets in their natural habitat. The medieval city of York is only an hour away where you can visit the famous Minster or the railway museum.
The house is very large and spacious with seven bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, and the dining room has two tables to accommodate everyone. There’s plenty of space for two or three families to share and still have privacy in this homely property.
