    For a relaxing day out venture further into the Yorkshire Dales to the picturesque villages of Grassington, 12 miles, and Kettlewell, 5 miles further, calling at Kilnsey Trout Farm on the way and a stop off to watch the climbers hang off Kilnsey Crag. Many walks and cycle routes for all abilities can be found here and all around the area. Country pubs serving local produce are within easy reach should you wish to dine out during your stay, with the closest just 500 yards away and easily reached via a stroll through the estate grounds.     Mill House has been renovated throughout but still retains its sense of history. No expense has been spared and visitors are ensured of perfection throughout. On arrival, visitors are welcomed by a beautiful, lawned garden and patio with river frontage to the River Rye giving you a great place to relax in the sunshine after a day exploring everything this beautiful area has to offer. Please note that the garden is enclosed, but not fenced for dogs.
    On the ground floor you have a gorgeous kitchen which is well presented, well equipped and has plenty of room for food preparation. On the same floor you have a charming, very comfortable living area with an open fire and a Smart TV; this room oozes character. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, one with a double bed and the other with twin beds. Both rooms have en-suite bathrooms and lovely garden views. Up a further set of stairs, you again have a double bed and twin beds both with en-suite bathrooms. All four bedrooms have kept all their charm and are beautifully decorated and furnished to an exceptionally high standard.     Hawnby is only 8 miles from Helmsley which is arguably one of Yorkshire’s finest market towns. This wonderful village is where the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills meet, offering some of the finest views and countryside. Helmsley is also a walker’s paradise where the Ebor Way meets the Cleveland Way, along with the Inn Way. With a reputation for great Yorkshire hospitality, the market square is a meeting point for walkers, cyclists and locals alike. Helmsley knows how to keep its visitors happy, with many shops, cafés, eateries including Michelin starred restaurants, an open-air swimming pool, walled garden, castle, bird of prey centre, microbrewery, two abbey ruins and the stately home of Duncombe Park. You will need more than a few nights at Mill House to experience all that this little town has to offer.     Whitby is a proud seafaring town; you can find out more at the museums or even first hand up at the abbey ruins. Walk through the whale bone archway on the West Cliff or visit the shipwreck on Saltwick Bay and look up into the cliffs to spot the smugglers’ tunnels. For those who wish to experience the wonders of this inspiring area, why not take a long, lazy walk amid the scenic beauty of the North York Moors National Park, which can be accessed by the heritage steam train winding its way through the rolling hills of heather? You can also explore quaint coastal villages such as Robin Hood’s Bay, Staithes or Runswick Bay. Take in the sights along the seafront at Filey, Scarborough or Saltburn. And if you’re a history buff, take a trip into York to soak up the culture brought by both the Romans and the Vikings. Closer to home, the town of Whitby has the long golden stretch of sandy beach, the 199 steps up to the St Mary’s Church perched on the cliff top, the boat trips and the freshly caught fish and seafood.     Stepping inside Monty House, on the ground floor you have the living room at the front of the property with large bay windows bathing the room in light, complete with an open fire. The rear of the house has a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area, as well as a raised second living room, complete with a games console which is sure to delight younger family members. The made to measure dining table is perfect for family meals, as well as games nights. There is also a ground floor shower room – perfect for rinsing off after a sandy day at the beach.     In Saltburn the beach is the main attraction, with the glorious long sand stretching for miles. You have a surf school here, as well as paddleboard hire, plus in the summer months there is beach yoga. All year round surfers brave the waves and it really is a sight to behold. Take a wander down to the pier or watch from the comfort of one of the seafront restaurants or bars.
    For keen walkers, or even those who just enjoy coastal panoramas, the Cleveland Way is a gorgeous scenic trail along the clifftops, connecting Saltburn to the neighbouring coastal towns and villages, including Runswick Bay, Staithes, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay. It stretches for miles, so it may be worth doing smaller sections so you can enjoy the many highlights.
