Our Dog-Friendly Insider Tips for Lancashire
We couldn't talk about dog-friendly Lancashire without mentioning the amazing walks that are available to you from right outside the front door. There's the enchanting Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where you can explore the iconic landmark that is Pendle Hill, and Spring Wood in Whalley that is scented of beautiful bluebells in the spring. One of the best walking routes is within Beacon Fell Country Park, as it includes a sculpture trail featuring carved wooden animals to admire. As for coastal walks, we love the 4.5 mile walk from Lytham St Annes to St Annes on the Sea as it's easy and flat with miles of gorgeous golden sand. Or you can embark on the Mythic Coast Artwork Trail and admire the five remarkable sculptures across the promenade.
But Lancashire isn't just about the dog walks. It's also home to England's best-loved seaside resort - Blackpool! The town is known for its distinctive trams, stunning dog-friendly beaches, and of course the Blackpool Tower. Four-legged friends are welcome on the trams, so if you're looking to give your feet (and paws) a rest, then climb aboard and travel the full length of the beach and even further. We recommend stopping off at Marine Beach in Fleetwood, the former fishing port. It's a lovely place for a peaceful walk along the promenade.
One of the best days out in Lancashire is Leighton Hall where your pup can explore 80 acres of parkland on their lead. There's lots to do here for children as well, with there being a play area and fun activities run by the staff - it's a great day out for the whole family!
When you get peckish, check out one of the many dog-friendly pubs and cafes waiting to welcome you in. For example, after long walks in the Forest of Bowland, you can stop by The Priory Inn for a hot drink, glass of wine or ale. Perhaps, you might even choose to have a light lunch here!
The warm welcome you experience from venues, extends to the dog-friendly accommodation in Lancashire. You will discover a range of dog-friendly cottages with an enclosed garden and the best dog-friendly hotels that will ensure you have a trip to remember with your beloved canine companion.
