This holiday cottage is spacious, yet intimate, and commands beautiful views of the countryside surrounding the peaceful village of Sheldon, only 3 miles from the market town of Bakewell. The oldest part of the cottage dates from 1800 and has been converted skilfully into a living room with tasteful furnishings, original beams, exposed stone walls and a large fireplace with a multi-fuel burner. There is a large dining area adjacent to the living room and a kitchen which leads into a south-facing conservatory, ideal for breakfast and relaxing. There is a downstairs toilet and utility area. Upstairs has three large double bedrooms (two with en-suite showers) and a bathroom. One of the bedrooms has a 6ft zip and link bed which can be used as a double bed or two single beds. The cottage has Sky TV and wi-fi internet access. Only a few steps from the main cottage is a games room and studio apartment. The large, heated games room has a pool table and table tennis table as well as a drying room for wet clothes and boots. Above the games room is the studio with sitting room and a double bedroom with en-suite. The sitting room has a sofa bed (for alternative sleeping only) and a TV. The cottage stands in an enclosed garden which has driveway parking for four vehicles, flower beds and two lawns. The larger lawn overlooks the nearby fields and hills, and is ideal for ball games. It adjoins a stone-flagged patio area with a built-in barbecue and outside table and chairs. Sheldon has a pub close to the cottage which is friendly and provides good food. The village is within easy reach of Bakewell and Ashford-on-the-Water, and is an excellent starting point for walking, exploring the countryside and visiting Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, The Heights of Abraham in Matlock Bath, the caves around Castleton and many other attractions in the Peak District. Originally a much loved home rather than a holiday let, Silk Hill Stables still retains its homely ambiance with many original features and great attention to detail. This spacious one bedroom stable conversion is on a working livery and offers comfortable accommodation in scenic rural surroundings on the edge of the Peak District National Park. From the owner’s gate the famous Kinder Scout can be seen and there are many picturesque walks direct from the doorstep. For those with four-legged travelling companions a dog hatch leads from the kitchen into the completely enclosed patio area, with seating and barbecue which is great for the long summer nights. You’ll find lots of useful doggy extras, and as an added bonus by prior arrangement with the owner there is even an outdoor area on site where you can let your dogs have a run around stress free. A short walk will take you into the small friendly town of Whaley Bridge where you’ll find food serving pubs, some dog friendly, cafés and restaurants. 5 minutes the other way is the famous Buxwoth Basin and pub. There is a train station in Whaley Bridge with direct services to both Manchester and Buxton. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub ¼ mile.

Carr View (Ref UK36953) is one of two holiday properties finished to an extremely high standard and the owner takes great pride in ensuring you have the perfect stay. On the ground floor you will enter into the boot room, which has a neatly placed washing machine in a cupboard, kick your boots off and enter into the beautifully designed open plan kitchen which has all you need to enjoy your self-catering holiday with the dining room which has ample seating for six guests made up of chairs and a bench. The living room is very cosy with comfy sofas and an electric wood burner to bring a wonderful sense of relaxation to the room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with zip and link beds that can be made into twins on request, the master bedroom has a slightly larger bed and an en-suite. The family bathroom carries the same quality as the rest of the house and has been done beautifully, with walk in shower and bath.
Outside is a garden with a patio area and lawn, perfect to watch the sun rise and set. There is also a river running through the site, giving the opportunity for some cold water wild swimming!
The helpful owners, that live on-site, are on hand should you need anything, and provide luxury towels, complimentary toiletries, a welcome pack and even a Christmas tree for holidays throughout December. As the properties are located on a working farm you will be close to farm animals and may see the farmer roaming the grounds throughout the day.
There are electric car charging points just 5 minutes away in The Anglers Rest pub car park, and just 10 minutes away in the Hope village car park.
