Reuben’s is situated in the hamlet of Boreston which lies a short distance from Moreleigh, with amenities including a village inn and good access to the principal South Hams towns of Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Totnes. Please note this is a rural property. Roads in the vicinity are often narrow, single track with passing places typical of the region. Totnes is 6 miles away and offers a wide range of activities and pursuits. There is also a main line rail station at Totnes with services to London Paddington. The A38 dual carriageway is approximately 4 miles away and provides good access to the cities of Plymouth and Exeter. Reuben’s is a generously proportioned, detached barn conversion with good high ceilings, exposed stonework, large fireplace with inset wood burner, impressive farmhouse style kitchen with double doors opening onto terrace area, exposed solid wood flooring throughout the living area and well maintained lawned gardens with parking. The property is decorated and furnished to a good standard and is perfect for a family holiday or for friends to get together to celebrate. There are so many places to visit close by including Dartmouth with is castle, marina and many shops. Take a ferry across the river and hop aboard the steam train which takes you to Paignton. Dartmoor is not far, take a walk up the Tors, or stop for a Devon cream tea. There are many golf courses close by, beaches, sailing, nature reserves for bird watching and over 52 miles of glorious coastline where there are some stunning walks. South Hams has many little villages well worth visiting. Beach 9 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Dray Cottage is set in the small hamlet of Fallapit, just outside the village of East Allington midway between the towns of Kingsbridge, Totnes and Dartmouth. This Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty has many sandy beaches and stunning coastline very close by, including Blue Flag beaches Slapton Sands, Beesands, East Portlemouth, Bantham, Bigbury and Thurlestone. The town of Dartmouth is nestled on the River Dart and offers boat trips, exclusive shops, galleries, many pubs and some famous restaurants. Totnes, 5 miles up the river, is a town steeped in history, enjoying a colourful and exuberant atmosphere, while Salcombe is another pretty riverside town, boasting a busy estuary with many yachts sailing by and a myriad of interesting shops and pubs in its winding streets. There are several National Trust properties in the area to explore and some delightful open gardens. With the South Hams coastal path stretching over 60 miles there is great walking and time can be spent exploring the rugged moorland.
A little further afield and well worth a visit is the Eden Project in Cornwall. Riding, sailing, sea and coarse fishing are available locally, as well as a good variety of shopping. Shops 3 miles, pubs ½ mile.

A cosmopolitan town, Totnes, 7 miles away, has a vast array of independent shops, weekly markets, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. The seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are 40 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 15-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth, and the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, both 7 miles away, has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks.

Guests of these cottages can also enjoy a range of on-site facilities suitable for all the family, including a heated indoor swimming pool (available via a booking system) with a private changing room and shower. There is a large games room set over two floors, including a fitness room with a cross trainer, treadmill, rowing machine and exercise bike. The top floor of the games room has a full-size American pool table, big sofa and Sky TV. The bottom floor has table tennis and table football. On-site there is also a laundry and ironing room. If you are looking for adventure and an adrenalin rush, then Wheeldon Farm Cottages will not disappoint. The Wheeldon Off-Road Centre, adjacent to the cottages, boasts a purpose-built, 30,000 square foot indoor arena (split in separate halves for motorbikes and bicycles) and junior training circuit, and is the ideal year-round venue for the whole family to learn to ride a motorcycle in a fun and controlled environment. Discounted rates are available for children and adults during the school holidays (booking by arrangement and on arrival), providing children and adults with the opportunity to experience the ultimate, two-wheel off-road adventure for the first time. The instructors at Wheeldon Farm are all ACU accredited and will guide the children through their paces every step of the way. For some activities, all the kit, clothing, boots, gloves, helmets and fun bikes are provided. All that’s needed is the enthusiasm to have a great deal of fun! In addition to all the motorbike fun, a range of other activities can also be organised locally, including horse riding, golf, go-karting and trout and carp fishing. Also, clay pigeon shooting, air rifle and archery are available - these are run by a fully qualified instructor and all equipment is provided. The activities run on a Monday, Thursday and Sunday. This beautiful two-bedroom holiday home in East Devon showcases stunning views across the surrounding countryside and the deer fields in front of the property. Recently built in 2022, the property sits alongside the owner’s home on a working farm (dogs are present on the farm, but will be with the owners), and is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just outside the town of Ottery St. Mary. As you enter Deer View Retreat, you will be welcomed into the entrance area with patio doors opening out into the garden, the perfect cosy spot to enjoy a mug of coffee with a good book. This then leads through to the open plan living and dining area where you can wind down and watch a film after a busy day exploring the coastline or enjoy a family meal together. Enjoy your breakfast in the well-equipped kitchen whilst taking in the far reaching views, the stag with his magnificent antlers and the ever-changing scenery. There’s also a handy utility area next door.
Discover the two stylish bedrooms and the bathroom on the first floor. The first has a double bed, the second is furnished with zip and link twin beds, and the shower room is fitted with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, toilet and sink.
The town of Ottery St. Mary has beautiful architecture and historic buildings lining the streets, backed by rural Devonshire countryside. Wander through the centre to browse independent shops and galleries or stroll along the River Otter to admire the unusual Tumbling Weir. If you’re exploring beyond the town, you’ll be close to the quintessential East Devon coastal towns and villages of Budleigh Salterton, Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth, Exmouth and Seaton. Exeter and Honiton are also within easy reach. The Southwest Coast Path is nearby and keen hikers should head to Dartmoor National Park with is just a 30-minute drive away. The Woodshed is the former timber store to Buckland Mill, which was converted into its current incarnation in 2019 by the current owners. It is in a beautifully peaceful and private forest clearing which after a short drive through it gloriously comes into sight! There is ample parking available to the front of the barn and as you enter you are greeted by the characterful open plan living room with plenty of seating and a cosy wood burner. The beautiful beech and copper staircase, with wood sourced from the woodland, leads to the first floor and two lovely bedrooms comprising a double and a kingsize, both with quality, modern en-suite shower rooms. Back downstairs, the dining area and modern, well-equipped kitchen are both framed by a lovely, exposed stone wall. The whole of the ground floor also benefits from underfloor heating.
Heading out from the kitchen, there is a warm tiled hallway which is perfect for keeping your outdoor accessories and walking boots and there’s access to a separate toilet and a handy enclosed courtyard area with a dog shower. The hallway can also double up as a peaceful retreat where you can sit and relax. Outside, you can enjoy roaming the vast 25 acres of pasture and woodland where domestic sheep and wild deer can sometimes be seen grazing. The grouinds boast an amazing varierty of birdlife including owls, woodpeckers, pheasants, Canada geese, moorhens and indeed everything from the smallest of finches to large birds of prey. Mr Fox is also a frequent visitor! Solitude is plentiful - you can simply relax just up a few steps in the private lawned area, or if you are feeling more sociable, sit by the firepit with a drink in hand. Should you be the ‘energetic sort’, there is a pétanque piste, which will inevitably require a healthy supply of wine to appreciate the ambience! The property has 25 acres (approximately 50% pasture land and 50% woodland) which guests are welcome to roam on. The small lawn behind the barn is the only private area though. The rest is shared with the owner when they are present next door and there is a public right of way through the forest.
The Woodshed is approximately 7 miles from Great Torrington and 14 miles south of the port town of Bideford and just 20 miles from the Cornish coastal town of Bude to the West. Devon is famed for its fantastic natural attractions such as Exmoor and Dartmoor National Parks, and the former with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’, many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village in North Devon and King Arthur’s Tintagel and many other North Cornwall coastal villages - all with awe-inspiring scenery.
With its selection of stunning beaches it will leave you spoilt for choice with award winning stretches of sand like Saunton, Woolacombe and Croyde and not far from Bideford is Westward Ho! Beach.
