    There are so many places to visit and so easy to get to. Take a trip to Totnes where there are many shops, markets and walks along the riverbank. Dartmoor is just a short car ride where you can see the ponies, walk the Tors or simply stop off in one of the many villages for a Devon cream tea. Paignton, Torquay and Brixham are also great places to visit, as are Exeter and Plymouth, both within 30 minutes’ drive. There are many National Trust properties including Agatha Christie’s summer home ’Greenway’, well worth a visit. For the children, there is Crealy Adventure park, or Go Ape in Haldon. If you are bringing a bicycle, there are many cycle ways off road to be explored, including Powderham Castle where there is a cycle track all along the estuary. This well positioned home is a few minutes drive from the seaside town of Seaton, between the coastal towns of Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. There is a mile long level walk along the riverside to the pretty Axe Harbour and the magnificent mile long Seaton beach with an esplanade, with views to the cliffs and Jurassic coastline.
    As you step inside the entrance hall, you will walk into the cosy and inviting living room which has plenty of comfortable seating, a Smart TV, DVD player, two sofas and a wood burner. The kitchen next door is fully equipped and the dining table in the conservatory is the perfect space for enjoying a home-cooked meal with your fellow guests, with a set of French doors opening out into the private tiered garden. The garden is fully enclosed and has an outdoor seating area where you can sip on your morning coffee and contemplate how to best spend your day. Heading up to the first floor, guests will find three well-presented bedrooms to retire to after each day of adventure. The master bedroom has a double bed, plenty of clothes storage and views out over the garden. The second bedroom has twin beds and the third has a 2ft 6in single bed (for child). Across the landing area is the family shower room which has a shower cubicle, toilet, wash basin and an LED mirror.
    The house enjoys a very peaceful location on a country lane adjacent to a stream with sheep in the nearby fields, an abundance of local walks and bridle paths nearby. There is a children’s playground opposite which is ideal for families staying in the cottage, and there are two great local pubs in Axmouth serving food. The cottage sits at the upper end of the beautiful Axe Estuary, abundant with bird and wildlife. At the mouth of the estuary is Axmouth Harbour, home to a number of small local fishing and pleasure boats, and direct access to pebble beaches, ideal for rock-pooling, crabbing, fishing and water sports. Within a mile is the small town of Seaton which has a unique tramway running inland, alongside the estuary and Seaton Marshes Nature Reserve, to the medieval market town of Colyton. The tram is perfect for birdwatchers, transport enthusiasts or those who simply want to watch the beautiful riverside scenery glide by.
    Only a short drive from the coastal resorts of Lyme Regis, Branscombe and Beer, this cottage is ideally placed to explore the World Heritage Jurassic coastline with its pretty beaches and fishing harbours. Also nearby is the market town of Axminster. Honiton is also well worth a visit, with some lovely cafés to enjoy after browsing in the antiques shops and the cathedral city of Exeter is another good day out.     Chittlehampton is a traditional Devon village situated in the north of the county between Barnstaple and South Moulton. It was the first village where the Saxons settled during their 8th century invasion of Devon. At its heart is The Square, a wide-open space sloping upwards with the outline hardly having changed since that time. The lovely church of St Hieritha was completely rebuilt between 1470 and 1520 on the site of the earlier cruciform structure, dominating the local skyline.
    Although many licenced premises survived well into 19th century providing a place of refreshment and rest for the many pilgrims who came to the village, today there remains just one, but one which is extremely popular and serves lovely traditional pub fayre in a warm and friendly environment.
