  • The Smithy, DevonInstant Book Overlay Image
    Chulmleigh, England
Set in 20 blissful acres of sleepy Devon countryside, Park Mill Farm is home to four beautiful properties perfect for that rural escape. There are three barn conversions and a cottage, and every property combines modern living and style with traditional features. Open plan designs and stylish decors make it easy to unwind, while features such as exposed wooden beams and vaulted ceilings add a little character.

If you’re content just to enjoy the peace and quiet, pick a spot beside the river and enjoy a picnic on a sunny day, or some al fresco dining ...well this is Devon after all. There’s even an on-site fishing lake for those of you who love nothing more than to cast your line and see what you can catch.

Old Dairy is a beautiful period barn conversion that has been compassionately converted to provide a tasteful and unique holiday home. Old Dairy has retained many original features, has high quality bespoke furniture and a kitchen and bathroom that are in keeping with the style of the property.

Original beamed, vaulted ceilings with galleried features create a light, airy and spacious feeling whilst the wood burner makes it an appealing rural retreat for cosy winter breaks.

The Park Mill Farm cottages are situated in a magical riverside setting, less than a mile from Chulmleigh centre, with 20 acres of lush fields, woods and parkland where you are free to roam along with the abundant wildlife. From the viewing area on top of the hill with bench, to the river and lakeside areas, there is plenty to explore.

Chulmleigh is a Saxon hilltop village made up of thatched cottages, traditional pubs and a small collection of independent shops. There is a children’s play park, and dining options consist of three pubs in the town, a cosmopolitan restaurant and an Indian restaurant/takeaway.

Chulmleigh town centre is now a conservation area and the rich grassland found here is home to the largest population of otters in any natural area in England. The area provides access to an abundance of leisure activities including walking, cycling, fishing, golf and horse riding along with a number of historic houses and gardens in the vicinity.

Guests can enjoy the best of coast and country with Dartmoor and Exmoor nearby, as well as the North Devon coast in one direction and the cathedral city of Exeter in the other, all within an hour’s drive.

Just a short drive away from Park Mill Farm cottages, you can experience the range of luxurious facilities on offer at Highbullen Golf and Country Club including tennis courts, a pool, fitness suite, and a range of spa treatments if you fancy being pampered.

Fishing at Park Mill Farm - "This is an accommodating little river in a lovely Devon valley where time really does seem to stand still." Mike Weaver, Trout And Salmon magazine, Feb. 2009.

There are two rivers (The Little Dart and Huntacott) meandering through the grounds and a private fishing lake where guests can enjoy free fly and coarse fishing and catch carp, rudd, chubb, roach, brown trout and tench. There is also complimentary fishing on both rivers where brown trout, sea trout and salmon can be caught together with coarse fish.

Old Dairy can be booked together with Cider Barn (BCPMCIDE) via an interconnecting door, and also Park Mill Farm (BCPMFARM) and The Smithy (BCPMSMIT) to accommodate up to 18 guests.
