The scenic Tywi Valley is just a short drive away and is home to numerous majestic sites dotted along its glistening river, where you’ll find the 12th-century castles of Carreg Cennen and Dryslwyn and the enchanting gardens and nature reserve of Dinefwr Castle and Par. The elegant market town of Llandelio can also found here, providing a wealth of eclectic gifts shops, highly acclaimed restaurants and traditional Welsh pubs, with fine ales and fresh local produce always on the menu! Maesydderwen, meaning oak field, started life as a working farm and later became a country inn, but is now a collection of delightful holiday cottages, beautifully situated within the living landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The charming market town of Llandeilo, with chic shops and an array of good restaurants, cafes and pubs, is just over three miles away. This holiday property has CCTV and has been renovated by the owners who live on-site, and boasts a fantastic hot tub and comfortable accommodation ideal for families, friends or couples. The property has been awarded Bronze in the Carmarthenshire Tourism Awards for self catering accommodation of the year 2018/2019 (3 units or more). There is an abundance of wildlife to see and enjoy from the grounds including woodpecker, siskin, marsh tit, goldfinch, nuthatch and wild roe deer. Red kites can also often be seen soaring overhead and there is a feeding station a 20-minute drive away. You can leave the car behind and enjoy wonderful walks directly from the cottage. If you can drag yourself away from Maesydderwen, there are the beautiful castles of Carreg Cennen and Dinefwr nearby, and the dammed lake of Llyn Y Fan Fach at the western border of the Black Mountains. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, 11 miles, with its great glasshouse dome at its centre, is a year round attraction, and within the Brecon Beacons National Park there are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, golfers, horse riders and wildlife watchers. Adrenaline sports such as paragliding, canoeing, rafting and abseiling can also be organised within the national park. Fishing is available in the nearby Towy Valley. Beach 30 miles. This lovely 1900s barn was formerly a cow shed and milking parlour, and has been converted to a high standard with luxury fixtures and fittings. It is situated on a working beef and sheep farm with a pedigree Hereford suckler herds, sheep and goats and lies adjacent to the owners’ home. This semi-detached property is all one level and has a family bathroom, a double bedroom with en-suite facilities and a twin bedroom. The corridor leads to an open plan living space and the fabulous fitted kitchen has all the necessary appliances you could need. There is also a lovely breakfast bar for you to enjoy your meals whilst looking at the open countryside through the patio doors. The living area has a wood burner, ideal for keeping you cosy on those colder evenings, and patio doors lead out to a patio area and the garden, great for exercising the dogs, and children. After a long walk, imagine relaxing in the private hot tub just looking out onto the rolling green hills – perfect!
Ammanford itself has a coffee roastery serving fantastic coffee as well as breakfasts. There is also a large selection of shops, supermarkets and local pubs, some serving good food and with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and castles. Pantyffynnon station is within walking distance of the property on Heart of Wales line to Shrewsbury or Cardiff in the other
direction.
There is also plenty to do in the area, with the beaches of Gower approximately 18 miles. The lovely old market town of Llandeilo, situated on the River Towy, is just 6 miles away with boutiques and galleries, and hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Jazz Festival and the Gin Festival. For those wanting to explore the local countryside, there are plenty of walks from the property and some great biking trails. Beach 12¾ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Trefechan is a lovely, detached bungalow set a mile back from the local village of Pumpsaint. A great place to base yourself to explore the local countryside. It has a large, enclosed lawned garden for those bringing their dogs, there is also a field in which the dogs can run around. This property comprises of a large open plan living and dining room with views over the open countryside, a well-equipped kitchen and two bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and the other with two single beds. It has a bathroom with a shower over the bath. In the garden there is a private hot tub which overlooks the countryside.
The property is 6 miles from the town of Lampeter which has an abundance of shops, coffee shops and restaurants. There are plenty of activities in the area such as horse riding, taking a walk in Cae Hir Gardens and a must see is a visit to the Welsh Quilt Centre. Less than a mile from the property is the Dolaucothi Gold Mines and a great day out is to be had here. The town of Llandeilo is 12 miles away, which hosts many festivals such as the jazz and gin festivals, the town is full of boutique shops and restaurants. The award-winning Nation Show Caves for Wales are 20 miles from the property, a fabulous place to keep children and adults alike entertained for the whole day. Bwythn Bach is set on the west of the Brecon Beacons National Park, boasting stunning views and a perfect base for exploring the beacons. ‘Bwthyn Bach’ is Welsh for ‘Small Cottage’, and is a cosy property sleeping up to two guests. A double bedroom on the first-floor sleeps two, the ground floor comprises a spacious living room, a compact kitchen and bathroom. Outside you will also have a private courtyard garden and driveway parking. You can enjoy a quiet retreat and stay local, making the most of the countryside. Come and enjoy Trondra House set on the edge of the picture postcard coastal village of Ferryside on the mouth of the estuary where the river Towy joins the Carmarthen Bay Ferryside’s history is unique and today it still possesses a charm and character. A five minute walk away is the beach and all facilities including a pub, restaurant (offers coffee in the mornings) and swimming pool. This is the perfect base for exploring South West Wales with sandy beaches and wonderful countryside in abundance.
The Millennium Coastal Park footpath runs from Ferryside and visits the rugged coves, stunning beaches and dramatic coastline this area has to offer, and is perfect by foot or cycle and runs for 14 miles passing Kidwelly, Burry Port and onto Llanelli. Trondra House is set on a small cul-de-sac of similar properties and is a superb holiday base offering spacious accommodation throughout.

Take a short walk to the local pub and restaurant for some local ales and home cooked food, or why not dine al fresco with a family barbecue? Cefn Sidan beach, Kidwelly Castle, the National Botanical Gardens of Wales and Ffoss Las racecourse are within 30 minutes’ drive.

The historic town of Kidwelly is a 10-minute drive away and is home to one of the finest preserved Norman Castles in Wales. The Llanelli Wetland Centre is a must see, where you can hand feed rare breed geese, go bug hunting, see flamingos and enjoy birdwatching from hides. From Llanelli you can also hire bicycles and take a spin along the Millennium Coastal cycle path, meandering along some epic coastline. Beach 7 miles. Shop 8 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
