Cherry Garth Cottages are located in the centre of Thornton le Dale, ’Yorkshire’s little gem’. Cherry Blossom has been named after the cherry trees which border the garden. The cottage has been built from beautiful traditional Yorkshire stone, and is tucked away in the grounds of the owner’s home Cherry Garth. It has an open plan living area with a welcoming wood burner to snuggle up in front of after a busy day out exploring the spectacular Yorkshire coast and countryside, and upon arrival you will be welcomed with a lovely welcome pack with tea, coffee and biscuits. There are lovely views from the property onto the garden and the bedroom window overlooks the paddock, where sheep graze.

The picturesque village of Thornton le Dale is located on the edge of the North York Moors, a mere one mile from Pickering. From here you can take a ride on the famous steam train to Grosmont, Goathland (aka Aidensfield in the classic TV series Heartbeat) and the seaside town of Whitby where you can climb the 199 steps to Whitby Abbey. Those looking for a quieter pace of life may prefer to walk the many footpaths and bridleways over the North York Moors.

This cosy detached cottage making a romantic retreat, is Grade II listed and dates back to 1760. It has been tastefully renovated to a very good standard and benefits from an underfloor heated limestone tiled floor throughout the ground floor. Outside there is a large, enclosed, riverside garden, on the opposite side of a road that leads directly into the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. It has a shared patio with a sitting-out area, a further riverside secluded seating area, garden furniture, BBQ and summerhouse. Although shared with the owners it is available to guests and their pets to enjoy at all times. Within the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, East Ayton is a village just a few minutes’ drive from the seafront at Scarborough. The village has all the amenities you could wish for with a post office, shop, garage and local pub as well as an excellent fish restaurant. The cottage is just off the main street on the lane leading further into the National Park and towards Hackness. This property is an ideal place for the walkers or cyclists amongst you, with great trails right on your doorstep. From the large riverside orchard garden there are open views across the valley to the castle that dates back to 1390. Cycling is also very popular in the area as this forms part of the Tour de Yorkshire route. The Dalby Forest is close by with cycle trails for all abilities and home to the World Cup Trail, a challenging 4 mile route, or for beginners, there are plenty more leisurely routes. The cottage is an ideal base to visit all that Yorkshire has to offer from the North Yorkshire Moors to the Wolds and the beautiful east coast, and coarse fishing is available direct onto the River Derwent at the bottom of the garden with brown trout and grayling. Dreamer’s Hut is only 6 miles from Helmsley, one of Yorkshire’s finest market towns. This renowned market town is where the North York Moors and the Howardian Hills meet, offering fine historic views and countryside with a reputation for great Yorkshire hospitality. The market square is a meeting point for walkers, cyclists and locals alike. There are also many shops, cafés, eateries including Michelin starred restaurants, an open-air swimming pool, walled garden, castle, bird of prey centre, microbrewery, two abbey ruins and the stately home of Duncombe Park.
The Dreamer’s Hut is named after ’The Hawnby Dreamers’ - three local shepherds who in the mid-1700s, fell asleep whilst working in the fields on a hot day in the adjacent valley of Ladhill Ghyll, of which the hut overlooks. The shepherds awoke to discover they had each had the same vivid dream of spiritual awakening and being called to change their lives for the better. The three subsequently walked to Newcastle to hear the preaching of the famous John Wesley and converted to Methodism, bringing this faith back to Hawnby. Secluded yet surprisingly close to town, the seaside resort of Whitby is just a few miles away, easily accessible by car or on foot. The town is home to a jam-packed calendar of events which take place all year round, and you can take a tour bus to see the fascinating sites, which include the stunning Abbey and St Mary’s Church high above the cliffs. There are also regular boat cruises that offer a different aspect of the beautiful town from the water. A day trip to Robin Hood’s Bay is a must during your stay at The Hideaway. Just 3 miles away, the bay is full of character and charm, thanks to its cobbled, narrow streets and alleyways lined with an eclectic mix of individually-run shops, pubs and tearooms.
A little closer to home, Hawsker has a warm and cosy local pub that serves local food, and for the outdoorsy types, there’s a disused railway line only a few hundred yards away that stretches some 21 miles from Whitby to Scarborough.

Set in a small hamlet, these carefully converted holiday cottages form a courtyard development where every care has been taken with the design, internal furnishings and their impact on the environment. Bell’s Barn (prop ref 25899) stands detached from the other cottages and is suitable for wheelchair users. There is also enclosed paddock where your dogs can run free! Just a short walk from Crakehall, claimed to be one of the prettiest villages in the Dales, with a large village green overlooked by an imposing manor house where cricket and quoits teams often play. Nearby, the historic town of Bedale, 2½ miles, offers a weekly market every Tuesday and various events during the year, together with a range of individual shops, restaurants and pubs. Masham, renowned for the Black Sheep Brewery, is 10 minutes’ drive and Richmond with its Norman castle, Georgian architecture and thriving theatre is also easily accessible. Historic York and its many attractions is within easy driving distance. Alternatively, just enjoy the wonderful Yorkshire countryside either by car, bicycle or on foot. Shop and pub ¾ mile.
