    If it’s the beach you want with miles of sand, swimming, and surf then you’ll be spoiled for choice. Much of the coastline in this area is owned by the National Trust and is a haven for wildlife, providing fabulous walking opportunities. There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover within a short drive including Crackington Haven, Boscastle, Morwenstow, and stunning Tintagel, inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur. Further afield the fishing port of Padstow is a popular tourist destination. Bude is a fabulous coastal town that once visited, you will want to come back to time and time again. Bude has something for everyone including great beaches for relaxing and building sandcastles on, rockpools for investigating at low tide, and cafés to watch it all from. The rolling waves are great for surfing all year round and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the Southwest Coast Path offer you a superb opportunity to explore and appreciate the outstanding countryside. Bude also has a superb golf course, indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area, and a heritage centre at Bude Castle. It also has a good selection of local shops, supermarkets, cafés, pubs, restaurants, and an excellent information centre.

Appleloft is a charming stone cottage located in the hamlet of Pencuke, near to Crackington Haven beach and 8 miles from the pounding surf at Widemouth Bay. The community shop at Higher Crackington is within walking distance, a great place to stop for coffee, a delicious pasty or to sit and admire the outstanding views. Bude is only 10 miles away, an easy 20-minute drive.
    The cottage enjoys a rural setting and has large gardens to both the front and rear of the property. There is ample parking and a gated drive way. On the ground floor there is a comfy lounge with a cosy wood burner, the newly refurbished kitchen and a twin bedroom. Three steps lead to the new open plan dining room area and to the upgraded bathroom. Stairs from the lounge lead to a large, but private, galleried bedroom offering a super kingsize bed, lots of storage space and delightful views over the front garden. This room has an ensuite cloakroom with vanity unit, toilet and towel rail. The flooring in this room is a quirky, historic feature from the days the room was used to store apples.
    The area is great for walkers with spectacular coastline, wooded valleys and rolling farmland. The coastal path can easily be accessed from Crackington Haven Beach or Boscastle. In the cottage you will find a large range of walking books and maps to help you plan your days out. If beach life is your thing, you’ll be spoilt for choice in North Cornwall. Bude is a fabulous coastal town that is establishing itself as a centre for all sorts of outdoor adventure sports. Bude has something for everyone including great beaches for relaxing, rock pools for investigating and café’s to watch it all from. Once visited, you will want to come back time and time again. The rolling waves are great for surfing and there are surf schools catering for all abilities. Bude’s outdoor sea pool provides all year round free swimming. The footpaths by the restored canal and the independent shops and cafés offer a gentle alternative to the adrenaline fuelled beach activities. Bude also has a superb golf course, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley/indoor play area, cinema, a nearby riding school and a fascinating heritage centre at Bude Castle. It has a good selection of local shops, three supermarkets, cafés, pubs, restaurants and an excellent information centre.
    There are many pretty coves and inlets to discover within a short drive of the cottage. Boscastle, with historical connections to Thomas Hardy, and the stunning Tintagel, inextricably linked to the legend of King Arthur, are nearby places to explore. Dr Martin fans might like to visit the villages of Port Isaac and Port Gaverne, film locations for the fictional Port Wenn. Further afield the pretty fishing port of Padstow, famous for its Rick Stein restaurant, is a must, and for Poldark enthusiasts, you can soak up the atmosphere of ’Nampara Cove’ at Porthcothan and enjoy the windswept beach and crashing waves of ’Waleggans beach’ at Hollywell Bay. For a different landscape you can explore the vast moorland areas of Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor. Both are within easy reach and offer wild, remote walking routes dotted with the remains of prehistoric civilizations, stone circles, weather worn tors and wild ponies. The cottage is extremely well placed for access to the many popular beaches, villages, heritage properties and gardens of Cornwall and Devon.     This comfortable, dog friendly, holiday home is 705 yards from Widemouth Bay which is a fantastic beach and has a vast expanse of golden sands at low tide and many rock pools to explore. The surf is often outstanding, the sun hits the beach for most of the day and the sunsets over the sea are simply magical. Three miles to the north is Bude, a vibrant, bustling little tourist town with a wealth of restaurants and amenities.
    For walkers and cyclists, the area is full of superb routes and Bude lies at the centre of the most dramatic stretch of the Southwest coastal footpath. There are numerous local villages and landmarks to explore and much of the area is a nature lovers paradise.
