There is so much to do; Penzance town is full of history, the cobbled streets merge seamlessly with the large fishing harbour, visit the galleries or the gardens with their exotic plants, or pop into one of the cafés, bars and restaurants. The Scillonian ferry runs from Penzance to St Mary’s on the Isles of Scilly, why not book in a day trip whilst you are here. Just next to Penzance is the fishing village of Newlyn, walk along the harbour side and watch the trawlers bring in their daily catch, the local fishmongers offer a daily selection of freshly caught fish and shellfish or if you don’t want to cook, pop into one of the restaurants and try the catch of the day. Obviously, the area has beautiful beaches, Marazion not only has a beautiful beach but is also home to St Michaels Mount, at low tide you can walk across to the mount. For nature lovers not only are there beautiful gardens but the coast paths offer fantastic scenery and multitudes of wildlife, at Porthcurno you may even catch a glimpse of a basking shark or dolphin. Walk along the wild windy shoreline, storm watch and return to snuggle up in front of the cosy multi-fuel burner. Garden lovers will be delighted with neighbouring Trewidden Gardens, within walking distance and complete with tea rooms. The area is perfect for exploring the many delights of West Cornwall and the barns are just a short distance from Newlyn, with its working fishing harbour and wonderful history. Newlyn also boasts an excellent selection of local pubs, all serving great food and local ales.

There are a host of cafés, shops, and a choice of supermarkets nearby, as well as a multi-screen cinema and meadery. The larger sea-faring town of Penzance has an eco-heated, art deco outdoor swimming pool, a great way to spend an afternoon. Drive round to the historic town of Marazion and walk across to St Michael’s Mount at low tide, or take a small ferry at high tide.

A daily ferry service operates from Penzance to the beautiful Isles of Scilly, or fly from nearby Lands End airport. The stunning village of Mousehole with its famous tales of the Mousehole Cat is just a short drive away, as is The Minack Theatre, which is an open air theatre with the ocean as a backdrop.
