A sweet, little terraced cottage, originally a miner’s cottage, situated in the village of Loftus, a couple of miles from Staithes. With a wood burner and great valley views, this characterful and charming Yorkshire cottage has been lovingly renovated in 2018 to a high standard.

Traditionally furnished and well equipped, this Yorkshire cottage provides a comfortable and romantic hideaway, with a spacious living room, modern kitchen and bathroom plus two cosy bedrooms. Outside the cottage is a great sitting area from where you can enjoy the glorious views over the rolling countryside, and a courtyard style garden offering the perfect spot to sit and relax. Enjoy excellent walks from the doorstep, with a network of public footpaths in the vicinity, including the Eskdale Walk and the Cleveland Way coastal path.

Visit the seaside town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, just a short drive away and boasting the oldest water balanced, funicular cliff tramway in Great Britain alongside great restaurants and beaches.

The village of Loftus has good amenities, including three pubs, a Gin palace with micro-brewery, local grocery shops, bakery and an award winning bookshop stocking plenty of local authors and gifts. In the ‘Iron Valley’ of Skinningrove you’ll find secluded beaches and The Tom Leonard Mining Museum.

Enjoy the fishing port of Whitby, with its winding cobbled streets, famous abbey and wonderful fish and chips, or explore the spectacular coastline and dramatic North York Moors. The area surrounding this Yorkshire cottage offers a wealth of attractions including the steam railway at Grosmont, the pretty market towns of Pickering and Helmsley and stately homes and gardens such as Castle Howard. 22 Sea is a beautifully presented end of terrace house nestled in a quiet corner of ‘The Bay’, a purpose built holiday village overlooking Filey bay on the picturesque North Yorkshire coastline. With open plan living, and stunning full height windows providing access to a first floor balcony.

The sitting room features large deep filled sofas placed around a traditional wood burning stove; ideal for cooler winter months. Here you can relax and unwind after a long day at the beach whilst catching up on your favourite holiday movie. The modern kitchen sits to one side and the appliances include both a washer/dryer and dishwasher. The dining table provides plenty of seating for six and is ideally placed to enjoy a family breakfast or delicious home cooked evening meal.
Two sets of bi-fold doors provide access to a covered patio area and flood the room with natural light. An understairs cupboard provides space for storage and a WC completes the ground floor accommodation.
Take the stairs to the first floor and you will find two stunning and spacious bedrooms, a kingsize double and a double room with traditional bunk beds. Both bedrooms offer the ’wow’ factor with vaulted ceilings and full height cathedral windows which open up to provide access to a full length, south facing balcony with lovely views across the holiday park. Here you can sit and enjoy an early morning coffee or perhaps a relaxing glass of wine after a busy day.
Completing the interior is a spacious bathroom, featuring a shower over bath.
Outside of the house is a covered patio area with a table and chairs and a brick-built BBQ; a real sun trap which can be accessed from the open plan living area. A peaceful and secluded spot to sit and relax (not enclosed). This holiday home welcomes dogs and there are miles of dog-friendly beaches to explore and also a meadow for them to enjoy.
The Bay has many facilities to make your stay enjoyable including a coffee shop, convenience store, pharmacy, and the John Paul Jones family pub and restaurant. It also boasts a leisure complex comprising of an indoor, heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym. You can also enjoy a game of tennis or hone your archery skills (additional charges apply).
Just a short drive away is the traditional seaside town of Filey where you can find a plethora of tea rooms, restaurants and pubs alongside amusement arcades and shops selling holiday essentials such as buckets and spades! This beautiful part of North Yorkshire offers something for everyone including miles of cycle routes and footpaths to explore including the breathtaking cliffs at Flamborough Headland. For golf fans enjoy a round on the beautiful Bridlington Links Golf Course. A little further afield is the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, the historic City of York and the birthplace of Captain James Cook, Whitby. This beautiful glamping lodge offers a comfortable stay situated just outside the picturesque market town of Helmsley. The property is set within the grounds of a working farm and retirement livery yard and offers breath taking views across the fantastic North York Moors which is just on the doorstep.
This quirky lodge has all the mod cons to make your glamping experience feel unique and special. The Nab has plenty of character and offers families and friends a luxury glamping retreat, whilst being ideally located to explore all that the North York Moors has to offer.
The property is set mainly over one level however you have a king size bed on the mezzanine floor which can be accessed by a steep paddle staircase, there is very limited head room but is an ideal area for children. On the ground floor you have a fully equipped kitchen which is shared with the living area and boasts a Smart TV and all the facilities you would expect in a self-catering lodge. On the same floor you have a small bathroom with a shower cubicle and heated towel rail along with a private bedroom with a double bed.
The enclosed garden offers a picnic bench along with a firepit which can also be used as a barbecue and gives you a full panoramic view of the North York Moors which is simply beautiful; luxury glamping does not get much more perfect than this. With the cottage situated near Helmsley, the local pubs, restaurants, shops and Helmsley Brewery are within easy reach, a short 6-mile drive.
The North York Moors National Park is full of bike trails and fantastic, scenic walks including the very popular Rievaulx Abbey. Nearby towns include Malton, Pickering, Thirsk, and a little further afield York. Also, the very popular coastal towns of Whitby and Scarborough are approximately a 40-minute drive away should you wish to have a day at the beach.

Murmuration Cottage is situated in a fantastic location, just off one of Whitby’s main streets in the town centre, yet hidden away on Rose and Crown Yard. This terraced cottage is named after the bird formations which you can see from the windows looking out towards the Abbey. Perfect for a romantic break or a small family, Murmuration Cottage has something for everyone. The more than adequate kitchen is situated on the lower level, a comfortable living room is on the first floor, and on the second floor are the bedrooms. There is a spectacular view from the rear of the cottage of the Abbey and the East Cliff.

The wonderful gothic town of Whitby has something for everyone, from Whitby Abbey to the old town and its cobbled back streets complete with bazaars. No visit to Whitby is complete without challenging the 199 steps to the top of the town and Abbey; it’s definitely worth the effort for the view alone. Whitby plays host to regular events such as the Steampunk Weekend, the Whitby Regatta and the now world famous Goth Weekender.

This is also the perfect place to make as your base for exploring the North York Moors National Park and the Yorkshire Heritage Coast. Travel by steam train into the heart of ‘Heartbeat’ country or take a fishing trip out to sea on one of the many boat trips that leave the harbour with the hope of seeing whales, seals or dolphins. The Cleveland Way snakes along the coast and is a must for those who enjoy the great outdoors. Robin Hood’s Bay and Runswick Bay are just some of the highlights along the coast, whilst the medieval walled city of York is just an hours’ drive or train ride away. The traditional seaside town of Scarborough is just down the coast with its North and South Bays, plus the open-air theatre which hosts many summertime concerts with international stars. The open plan living space is spacious and comfortable with a coal-effect fire offering a cosy glow, perfect for relaxing in front of the Smart TV after a day out in one of the many attractions in and around Whitby.

The coast is just a short walk from your doorstep where you can enjoy over 1½ miles of golden sands, including a designated dog walking area. You can also enjoy donkey rides or just take a stroll with an ice cream whilst enjoying fantastic views out to sea and across to the abbey, made famous by Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Head into the town centre where you will find plenty of quaint shops selling all sorts of curiosities from Whitby Jet jewellery to Gothic clothing. Whitby has a hugely popular food and drink scene with many bistros and café bars, as well as traditional fish and chip shops and tea rooms. There are many pubs and bars that offer a warm welcome to dogs and humans alike, as well as the many festivals and events that take place in the town such as the bi-annual Goth Weekender, Steam Punk weekends and the famous folk week.

Venture just a little further out of town for a game of golf or explore some of the hidden gems to be found all along the coast. Take a visit to Robin Hoods Bay, which can be accessed along the Cinder track and Cleveland Way, or any number of bays and coves along this magnificent coastline including Staithes, Runswick Bay and Saltburn. For a complete contrast, you can head inland and take in the breathtaking scenery of the North York Moors National Park. For a different kind of day you can take a steam train from Whitby into Goathland, also known as Aidensfield in the popular Heartbeat TV series. With so much to see and do on your doorstep you may need more than one visit. The traditional Victorian seaside town of Scarborough, just half an hour away with Alpamar Waterpark, Open Air Theatre, attracting some of the worlds top names, and Sealife Centre. Beach 400 yards. Situated at the foot of the North York Moors National Park, Weaver’s Cottage, restored in 2019, retains lots of character and original features. This pretty row of terraced cottages was home to some of the weavers that worked in the mills that were dotted in Pickering and the surrounding villages. The cottage has the added bonus of private parking for two cars as well as a rear courtyard area.

Pickering is a bustling market town with lots of restaurants, wine bars and local pubs. There’s a market every Monday held down the high street where locals and tourists enjoy the bargains. Situated just a 5-minute walk from the North York Moors steam railway, and for those train enthusiasts amongst you, this makes for a dream holiday. You can catch the steam train from Pickering and travel over the North York Moors National Park to Whitby. Stop off at the village of Goathland, home to the fictional village of Aidensfield in the popular TV programme ’Heartbeat’.

Whitby is a bustling seaside town with its majestic abbey standing proud on the headland reached by 199 steps from the cobbled streets lined with independent shops and cafés. Scarborough and Filey lie to the east of Pickering, both fantastic seaside resorts with award winning beaches. The Dalby Forest is a short drive or bike ride from the cottage and is home to one of the World Cup Mountain Bike Trials, and there are challenging runs as well as the easy routes for beginners. The Dalby Forest is also home to ’Go Ape’, a great high rope adventure course through the forest. Just a 10-minute drive away is Flamingo Land Theme Park with exhilarating rides and a fantastic zoo making for a great family day out. Beach 19 miles. Shop 400 yards, pub 500 yards and restaurant ½ mile.

This holiday property is set in the grounds of Maddy House Farm, which dates back to the 15th century. It is surrounded by over 20 acres of its own fields, with breathtaking views across the moorland towards Castleton, which has co-op, tea rooms with part time post office and two pubs. The Heritage Coast of Yorkshire and Whitby are easily accessed, and you can take a leisurely journey through the Esk Valley. Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington can be found a little further afield. A must when visiting this area are the smugglers coves of Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes and Runswick Bay. Visit stately homes such as Duncombe Park, Nunnington Hall and Castle Howard, which are all within easy driving distance. Shop and pub serving food 1 mile.

Within a 5-minute walk and within the beautiful village there is a variety of local shops, tea rooms, ice cream and cake shops, pubs serving food, as well as a fish and chips and pizza takeaway. In addition there are beautiful walks to be taken from the door, an attractive duck pond and the stream down the road from the cottage, and for younger guests a play park within a few minutes’ walk.
