Fair Maid (ref UK11078) sits in the courtyard of a former farm in the heart of the village of Kentisbeare, East Devon. With its wood clad exterior, it is well laid out with a comfortable interior, making the property perfect for couples, friends or a small family. There is an enclosed patio at the rear of the barn which is bordered by a stream and is the ideal spot for a morning coffee or a glass of your favourite tipple on a balmy summer’s evening. This is a superb house which has been decorated and furnished to a very good standard and boasts a cosy wood burner, together with many original features. The kitchen/breakfast room looks out over the grounds.

Glimsters Cottage (ref UK31014) is a lovely thatched cottage which has been sympathetically restored to uncover much of its original charm and character boasting original exposed beams, stone walls and lots of welcoming touches such as a blazing a wood burner. A spacious living room and a well-equipped kitchen/dining room have been make up the ground floor. On the first floor you will find two sumptuous bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, as well as a family bathroom.

Famed for its laid back vibe and surfing lifestyle, Devon hosts an enchanting cocktail of golden beaches, traditional villages and a rich, rolling countryside steeped in history. For walkers and birdwatchers, this really is the most suitable location as there are so many walks to enjoy from the front door. Many activities available in the area include golf, fishing, horse riding and sailing. There are also numerous National Trust properties within a short drive. Exmouth is close by and has a lovely 2-mile stretch of beach and was once home to the wives of Horatio Nelson and Lord Byron, whilst a little further afield lies the genteel town of Budleigh Salterton with its white-washed and thatched cottages which attracted visitors such as Noel Coward and PG Wodehouse. There is a sunny sitting-out area to the front of the cottage. The property is reached by a 500 yard farm track ensuring your privacy. If you are looking for peace and quiet, and space to relax and unwind in an unspoilt rural setting, this is an ideal place for a getaway at any time of year. A network of public footpaths directly from the farm and quiet roads for cycling make for a perfect holiday. Lambs Cottage is also an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding delights of Devon and Somerset.

The farm sits on the edge of a scattered hamlet of cottages and farms, approximately 1¾ miles from Culmstock and approximately 2 miles from Hemyock. Both villages have a pub serving food, and a convenience store. The market towns of Wellington and Honiton (with nearby Ottery St Mary – the birthplace of Coleridge) offer a range of local independent shops, cafés and gift shops, and are within a 15-minute drive. Wellington has a farmers’ market twice a month and Honiton is particularly renowned for its antique shops and weekly market which runs the length of the High Street. Taunton with its County Cricket Ground, race course, museum and well regarded Brewhouse Theatre and Arts Centre, lies within 13 miles. The cathedral city of Exeter, with its beautiful historic quarter, quay, botanic gardens, cafés, restaurants and excellent shopping, is only 24 miles.

Within a 40-minute drive to the south you can discover the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, with pretty coastal towns and villages such as the acclaimed Lyme Regis, Seaton, Beer and Sidmouth with their family friendly beaches. Walk along the coastal path and take in the dramatic coastal scenery. At Seaton, a trip on the tramway is a must, visit the caves at Beer, or have a crab sandwich on the beach. For a classic seaside town, visit Sidmouth with its many shops, pubs, restaurants and award-winning ice cream parlours. Within a 40-minute drive to the west, discover the stunning Exmoor National Park with its hidden villages and beautiful hill walks. Tucked away in the heart of the mid-Devon countryside lies Hazelnut Lodge. With views over surrounding fields to the countryside beyond, this is the perfect place to get away from it all and enjoy the peace and quiet. Located in the grounds of the owner’s smallholding, there is a private drive leading down to the property. Skirted by the private woods, there is a large garden and sitting-out area. The spacious open plan living space is complimented by an inviting bedroom with its super kingsize bed. Patio doors lead from the living area onto the patio giving further access to a decking area for dining al fresco. Hazelnut Lodge is a comfortable base from which to explore all that Devon has to offer. Exeter is easily reached, and has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and, of course, its historic cathedral. Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks are accessible and provide walking for all abilities and stunning scenery. There are a number of National Trust properties in the area, most notably Castle Drogo and Arlington Court. Also within easy reach (20 miles) is Powderham Castle. This remarkable 14th century castle, set in a beautiful deer park on the banks of the River Exe, has been home to the same family since 1391. Visitors are encouraged to explore the picturesque gardens, discover the interior beauty of the castle and to take part in some of the events which are held throughout the year. The wonderful RHS gardens at Rosemoor and the Dartington Crystal Factory are worth a visit and both these attractions are based at Great Torrington. There is golf, fishing and horse riding available in the local area and cycle hire can be arranged on the Tarka Trail at various locations. Shop 3 miles, pub 1¼ miles and restaurant 5 miles.

Located in the heart of North Devon, Grace Cottage is perfectly placed to get out and explore all this stunning area has to offer. The North Devon coastline has a little something for everyone from quaint old fishing villages at Bucks Mill and Clovelly, to large sandy beaches at Saunton and Westward Ho!. The quay and lighthouse at Hartland offer some stunning scenery whatever the weather. Other local attractions include the RHS gardens at Rosemoor and Dartington Crystal Factory, both near Great Torrington.

There are three golf courses close by, the nearest being Libbaton Golf Course. Salmon and trout fishing on the River Taw can be arranged locally, whilst slightly further afield both Dartmoor and Exmoor are easily accessible to enjoy a day’s exploring. There is cycling along the Tarka Trail. Nearby Barnstaple has a good range of shops, restaurants and local amenities, as well as a theatre and cinema. The surrounding area has many attractions waiting to be discovered, such as the local beach at Combe Martin where you can enjoy the stunning sunsets of the North Devon coast. Try your hand at sea fishing on Blue Fin or take an exhilarating tour of the amazing coastline on the Ilfracombe Sea Safari or on the Hampshire Rose, a former RNLI Lifeboat.
Combe Martin is also perfectly situated to the enjoy the countless other North Devon attractions such as the popular Tarka Trail which provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line allowing you to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and scenery stretching from Barnstaple through to Bideford and beyond. And then there’s stunning Exmoor National Park with its beautiful night skies, just 6 miles away and Lynton & Lynmouth, 13 miles to the northeast with its incredible sea views, rugged cliffs and amazing funicular cliff railway, which opened in 1890 and is the highest and steepest totally water powered railway in the world! Under 3 miles away from the village of Buckland Brewer, with its lovely traditional pub and 9 miles from the popular port town of Bideford, the property is in a perfect location for exploring both North Devon and North Cornwall with nearby attractions such as the world-famous Clovelly Village, Hartland Abbey, Hartland Point Lighthouse, RHS Garden Rosemoor and many other places to spend your days. If stunning beaches are your thing, then North Devon will leave you spoilt for choice with Saunton, Woolacombe, Croyde and Westward Ho! Beaches all within easy reach by car and Peppercombe Beach being just 8 miles away. Western Heights is a four bedroom detached cottage, perfect for six people, and is situated high up in this stunning location. Access to the cottage is by foot only via 12 steps in total with a long, lit gravel pathway in between, so this is not recommended for anyone with walking difficulties. As you arrive you will see a handy square switch on the wall by the house sign which will light your way up the path when dark. Parking for one car is available down below via a driveway but you can pull in by the footpath and unload before parking up.
Accommodation comprises four bedrooms on the first floor, three of which benefit from beautiful sea views. On the ground floor, there is a comfortable living room with TV and Amazon Firestick, plus a cosy wood burner for relaxing evenings in. The bright and contemporary kitchen/diner has everything you’ll need for your stay and access out onto the large decking where the views over the sea and towards Wales are spectacular, and outside is the best place to truly enjoy the views. Along with the main decking you’ll find a table and chairs for al-fresco dining, there is also a further smaller decking that sits above the cottage where the views get even better! The perfect place to enjoy a quiet evening drink with a book in hand. At the back of the cottage you will also find a handy outdoor WC and an outhouse containing a washing machine and tumble dryer.
Lynton, also known as ‘Little Switzerland’, is a small Victorian town which lies on the northern edge of the West Country peninsula in an area of incomparable beauty within Exmoor National Park. Bracken and heather clad, the sweeping hills and valleys nestle between these and spectacular cliffs. Rivers wind their way through deeply wooded valleys on their way to the sea, occasionally interrupted by tumbling waterfalls. The remarkable Valley of the Rocks, which is a must see, is a dry valley that runs parallel to the coast and is just over a mile to the west of Lynton. It is a popular tourist destination noted for its herd of feral goats and for its landscape and geology. There’s a Victorian fishing lodge at Watersmeet which is now run by the National Trust and the area which has dramatic waterfalls is worth a visit.
Inland there are numerous walks through the rugged scenery of the National Park with over 600 miles of marked footpaths! Exmoor itself has abundant wildlife, including ponies, sheep and red deer that graze the open moorland, and overhead you might see falcons, buzzards and even the rare merlin. The surrounding coastline and countryside boast some of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring sea and hillside views you can find! There are some amazing walks that can be taken directly from the property, and local restaurants, pubs, cafés, tea rooms and various craft, boutique, novelty and antique shops are all within easy reach. There is also one of the most characterful town hall buildings you’ll find anywhere showing the best of the Tudor Revival style and then there’s the local cinema in a former Grade II Listed chapel where you can relax and take in a movie! The twin village of Lynmouth with its riverside walks, harbourside pubs, restaurants and large manor green overlooking the sea is linked by road, footpath and the famous Victorian funicular cliff railway which opened in 1890.
