There’s Plas Mawr, an Elizabethan Town House and Aberconwy House a Medieval Merchants House. A short drive of around 10 minutes and you’ll discover the little known yet award winning Conwy Vineyard well worth a visit for any wine novice or connoisseur. You’re also within easy reach of the Snowdonia National Park, the bustling seaside resort Llandudno, Surf Snowdonia, Zip world and not forgetting glorious coastal paths and many walks. In the other direction, just beyond the market town of Llanrwst, is Surf Snowdonia, the world’s first artificial surfing lagoon – worth popping in for a coffee to watch the surfing action! Further afield is historic Conwy with its majestic Edward I castle (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), and the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno offering the Great Orme and a whole host of family activities, from tramway and cable car rides, to the wonderful Venue Cymru theatre. This charming traditional Welsh stone terraced cottage is well presented and cosy with its beamed interior and lovely wood burner. With its quirky layout over three floors, the kitchen on the lower ground floor going out onto a surprisingly spacious enclosed lawned garden and patio. From the ground floor living/dining room there is a lovely balcony overlooking the garden and the beautiful countryside beyond. The village has a small shop and inn with seasonal opening hours.
Set amidst the stunning scenery of the Snowdonia National Park, Penmachno is a lovely Welsh village centrally located for exploring both mountains and coast and just over 4 miles away from Betws-Y-Coed with its fine selection of outdoor pursuit shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. Close by you will find a superb selection of mountain bike trails, excellent walking and bird watching opportunities as well as many family friendly visitor attractions. For the more adventurous there are exciting zip wire experiences and even an inland surfing lagoon. Beach 20 miles. Shop in village, and restaurant 4.5 miles and pub 200 yards.

In the hillside village of Trefriw lies the terraced cottage of Llys Deulyn, a surprisingly spacious property for four. Although the living room and dining room are separate, there is a lovely open aspect between the two which adds to the spacious feeling. Outside, the River Crafnant tumbles past beyond the little garden, whilst a walk down the hill into the village centre brings you to two pubs, a restaurant and brasserie, a butcher’s shop, a café and the famous Trefriw Woollen Mill. From the cottage, it is a short journey along the delightful winding lanes to Llyn Crafnant, where you can spend time walking around the lake and there’s even a little tearoom on the lakeshore. The Gwydyr Forest is on the doorstep and offers much for the outdoor enthusiast, from walking and cycling to birdwatching and horse riding. The location is wonderful for your four legged friends too, and you will find they are well catered for at Llys Deulyn. The owners have thoughtfully provided dog treats, bowls, leads, towels, sleeping mat, treats, waste bags and information regarding great walks and dog friendly places nearby- everything has been thought of.
The nearby market town of Llanrwst has good shopping facilities, a stone bridge over the River Conwy, dating back from 1636, and the wonderfully restored Gwydir Castle. Popular Betws-y-Coed lies some 6 miles away surrounded by pine clad hillsides, together with a miniature railway, more outdoor shops than you can shake a stick at, and a wide choice of eateries to tempt your taste buds. It is also home to Zip World Fforest where you can try out a number of exciting adrenaline activities including the amazing Fforest Coaster. Being located in the Snowdonia National Park, you’ll find some amazing scenery on the doorstep, and Snowdon itself (at 3,560ft it’s the highest mountain in Wales and England) is within easy reach, as is Surf Snowdonia (3 miles away), the world’s first artificial surfing lagoon. The historic town of Conwy with its Edward I castle and town walls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Victorian seaside resort of Llandudno are also both within easy reach. Beach 11¼ miles. For cyclists the Marin bike trails at Gwydir are less than 4 miles away or take a walk to the picturesque Swallow Falls just 2 miles from the cottage. Just under 3 miles away you can find tree top climbing and a forest coaster ride! With Zip World and Bounce Bellow at Llechwedd Quarry just a 20 minutes’ drive away, you are sure of an epic experience. For the more intrepid adventurer, Pen Y Pass route for Mount Snowdon is only 10 miles away, with the more popular Llanberis route is 16 miles distant. Further down the coast less than a half hour drive away is the walled harbour town of Conwy, home to the smallest house in Britain and the imposing UNESCO world heritage site of Conwy Castle.
