Dating back to the 16th century, the dog-friendly Horse & Groom is a grade II-listed pub and inn in the heart of Charlton, near Malmesbury in Wiltshire with wonderful countryside walks for you and your pet to enjoy. Recently reopened after a full refurbishment, expect stylish, cosy interiors, five luxurious bedrooms, and a gorgeous new rear dining room - The Stables. Fronted by a tree-sheltered lawn and surrounded by its own paddock, The Horse & Groom offers plenty of space for al fresco dining with your best furry friend in tow. On the menu it’s all about seasonality and exciting takes on traditional pub classics, with ingredients and produce sourced from the amazing Westcountry larder and suppliers on our doorstep. Behind the bar there’s a selection of award-winning Butcombe beer, and an impressive wine selection.

The five luxurious bedrooms are full of cosy charm and personal touches, with super comfy beds, stunning bathrooms, and toiletries by Bramley. The cosy Snug rooms are located on the top floor - full of charm with comfy, stylish furnishings throughout. The Signature Plus rooms are extra spacious.

Dine with your dog in the cosy bar of the pub - expect stunning seasonal menus, with a focus on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and hearty pub classics. Your dog will receive a sausage for breakfast too! Behind the bar, you’ll find a great selection of award-winning Butcombe beer, and when Sunday comes it’s all about the Great British roast.

The 12th Century Abbey in the center of the charming market town of Malmsbury is dog-friendly and there is also plenty of river walks nearby. The hotel is within easy reach of Tetbury, Bath, and Cirencester, and all that the Cotswolds has to offer. Dog-friendly Westonbirt Arboretum is close by and is an oasis of trees and shrubs, a dog’s dream! With 600-acres of beautifully landscaped countryside, it is one of the finest tree collections in the world. Visit Castle Combe, a quintessentially English village where you’ll find an array of dog-friendly cafes and pubs. For some lovely walks visit Lacock Village and within easy reach. For family days out, try Cotswold Country Park and Beach where you can walk your trusty hound by the water's edge.
