To the east lies the picturesque fishing village of Polperro, while to the west, Polruan graces the banks of the River Fowey, opposite the charming town of Fowey itself. The nearby fishing town of Looe, just a short drive away, beckons with its sandy beach, shops, and restaurants. Children can enjoy exploring rock pools or engaging in crab fishing on the quay, while the local fish market offers the chance to procure the catch of the day for a special meal.
For a captivating excursion, the seafaring town of Fowey can be reached by a ferry trip across the scenic River Fowey. A foot passenger ferry departs from Polruan, or a car ferry departs from Bodinnick. Once home to the renowned author Daphne Du Maurier, Fowey is steeped in history and hosts a royal sailing regatta. Its narrow streets are adorned with intriguing shops, galleries, and cafés, offering an excellent day out for the entire family. Adventurous guests can embark on a charter boat for the opportunity to spot dolphins and seals.
Venture a little further to explore the renowned Eden Project, the bustling fishing town of Mevagissey, and the captivating Lost Gardens of Heligan. The popular surfing beach of Polzeath on the north coast is within an hour’s drive. The area is brimming with diverse attractions, from sailing, horse riding, kayaking, and sea fishing to golf. Alternatively, indulge in relaxation at one of the local spas or explore the numerous National Trust Houses and Gardens for which Cornwall is celebrated. A 15-minute walk down a shady wooded track takes you to the idyllic beach at Lansallos Cove and to the coastal path. Here you'll be able to embark upon the most spectacular dog walks! To the east is the quaint fishing village of Polperro and to the west is Polruan, which sits on the River Fowey, opposite the town of Fowey itself. The fishing town of Looe is only a short drive away and provides a sandy beach, shops and restaurants. Rock pools or fishing for crabs on the quay will keep the children entertained, while the local fish market provides the perfect opportunity to get the catch of the day for that special meal.
