Overview

Located in the centre of Haworth village, offering hard to come by off-road parking and a large private garden, is Townend Cottage, a rare West Yorkshire gem. This cosy property is suitable for a couple or small family of three or four wanting to explore West Yorkshire and the surrounding remarkable moorland. Step inside the property into a small hallway, which leads to the charming living/dining room, complete with quirky printed wallpaper, Karndean antique-style flooring, a choice of sofa and armchair to relax on, a cosy gas stove to warm up the space and a Smart TV that you can enjoy your favourite shows on as you wind down in the evenings. Enjoy mealtimes at the dining table, which comfortably seats the whole group, or for a romantic meal for two, the kitchen offers an additional small dining table, charmingly laid out for two, as well as a host of modern conveniences and appliances, including a dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. There is a convenient under stairs storage room for additional belongings, as well as a cloakroom with basin and WC. For a moment of tranquility, sit in the sunroom with a good book and enjoy the views of Hawoth and the moors from the large window, while the door leads out to the large multi-level garden, accessed down a set of stairs, where you will find a patio area and seating, perfect for a morning coffee or alfresco lunch admiring your surroundings. When it's time to get some rest, head up the carpeted staircase to find two charming bedrooms; a king-size double with zip/link feature and a window seat to make the most of the impressive views, as well as a spacious single room, both with ample wardrobe and storage space, Smart TVs and served by the family shower room, where you can end the day with a refreshing rinse in the large walk-in shower. Haworth village centre is a short stroll away and offers an incredible array of antique shops and galleries to browse, as well as mysterious cobbled streets to explore and a plethora of cafes, pubs, and eateries to tempt you, in this delightful Pennine village, you'll feel you have stepped back in time. The village backdrop consists of incredible moorland that inspired some of the Brontë sisters' finest literature, and is accurately described in Wuthering Heights as being wild, rugged and barren. Visit the Brontë sisters' family home, now the Brontë Parsonage Museum, to learn more about the lives of these incredible novelists, before heading to the aptly named Wuthering Heights pub in the village of Stanbury for a refreshing afternoon beverage. Stroll around nearby Central Park, or head slightly further afield to discover Penistone Hill Country Park, where you will find Brontë Bridge and the stunning Brontë Waterfall. For a day out filled with adventure, head to the market town of Keighley, home to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, which featured in the film The Railway Children, where you can hop on a steam train and enjoy the incredible moorland views from your window. Also worth exploring in Keighley is Cliffe Castle and its extensive grounds, the National Trust's East Riddlesden Hall, several parks and and a bus museum, where you can see more than 100 single and double-decker buses. Those who enjoy an adventure can climb the peak of Ilkley Moor, part of a conservation area offering incredible views, opportunities to see wildlife and multiple walking trails. Spend time exploring Skipton, known as the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and home to a 12th century castle, weekly market and extensive selection of pubs, restaurants and shopping facilities. The bustling cities of Leeds and Bradford are within easy reach, as is the natural splendour of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
