Situated on the edge of the moor, Swinton Bivouac is part of the 20,000-acre Swinton Estate—an ‘off-grid’ haven that offers an incredible sense of space and tranquillity in a truly natural environment. Nestled within the shelter of the Druid’s Temple plantation, Swinton Bivouac boasts unparalleled views and scenery. With miles of cycling and walking trails, beautifully rustic accommodation, wood-fired hot tubs, and a woodland sauna, Swinton Estate is the perfect dog-friendly retreat for the whole family.

Swinton Bivouac is built on strong environmental principles, with a commitment to sustainable tourism. The site is powered by a carbon-neutral wood-chip boiler for all hot water and heating, features a grey water and reed-bed filtration system, and has wood burners in the yurts and tree lodges. The Bivouac provides a truly authentic, rustic ‘back to nature’ holiday experience.

Even better, Swinton Estate is extremely dog-friendly. Most bedrooms, as well as public rooms, tree lodges, and yurts, welcome dogs. When it comes to dining, four-legged friends are warmly invited to join you in the Terrace Bar and the outdoor Terrace Garden. In the morning, they even have a dedicated area in Samuel’s Restaurant, so you can enjoy breakfast together. Alternatively, the Swinton Bivouac Café is another dog-friendly spot where you can rest your feet (and paws!) after exploring the many miles of trails right on your doorstep.

What Your Dog Can Expect from this Dog-Friendly Glamping

Your four-legged companion will be warmly welcomed with a comfortable bed, a tasty chew, dog bowls for food and water, and eco-friendly waste bags. Maps with details of the numerous walks and trails around the grounds and the estate are available at reception. If you’re staying in a Tree Lodge, a fridge is provided so you can keep your furry friend’s food nice and cool! Please note: Staff kindly request that dogs are not left unattended in the accommodation at any time.

Dogs will feel supremely welcomed here! They’ll receive a comfortable bed, a delicious chew, bowls for food and water, and eco-friendly bags. Plus, they can dine right by your side at the Swinton Bivouac Café.

Each yurt has an open-plan design with comfortable beds and a wood-burning stove to keep warm. The yurts come with private toilets and access to shared shower facilities. Outside, guests can take in stunning valley views from their private terrace or gather around the fire pit, with blankets provided for extra warmth. Activities like swingball and boules are available for entertainment, while the complimentary hot tub and communal barbecue area offer opportunities for relaxation. These off-grid yurts do not have electricity, allowing guests to disconnect and immerse themselves in nature.

The Loft Suite offers a spacious, comfortable stay for up to 6 guests, located on the first floor of our beautifully converted farmhouse. Accessible via stairs, this airy retreat features two flexible sleeping areas, one with a double/twin bed and a sofa bed, and a smaller interconnecting room with a double/twin bed. The suite also boasts a private en-suite shower room, complete with a toilet and sink. Enjoy your own private outdoor area with furniture and a charcoal BBQ, perfect for relaxing with your furry friend. Inside, you’ll find a dining table, fridge, kettle, and basic amenities, with additional cooking utensils available upon request for BBQ and kitchen use. Bed linen, towels, and robes are provided, and the beds will be made up ready for your arrival. With mains electricity and heating, you’ll have everything you need for a comfortable, dog-friendly stay.

The Tree Lodges offer a unique, off-grid escape, sleeping up to 7 people across three floors. The accommodation includes one king-sized double, one double, and three single beds. Each lodge comes with a gas range and hob for cooking, and bed linen is provided with beds made up upon arrival. Every lodge has its own en-suite shower room, ensuring privacy and convenience. While there’s no electricity, the lodges are full of rustic charm, inspired by traditional timber-framing techniques. Don’t forget to pack torches for this cozy, dog-friendly woodland experience! For ultimate relaxation, enjoy the lodge’s hot tub under the stars.

The outdoor terrace offers breathtaking views of the valley, perfect for unwinding by the fire pit or relaxing with a blanket. For entertainment, swingball and boules are available, along with complimentary access to the hot tub and communal barbecue space. Like the other yurts, this accommodation is off-grid and does not have electricity, making it an ideal escape for guests and their dogs.
