A daily stroll around this historic unspoilt village will reveal elegant Georgian Houses, quaint fisherman's cottages, coffee shops, gift shops and a few rather good pubs. Charlestown, a Unesco World Heritage Site, still survives as a working port with many a tall ship coming and going, as well as fishing boats and other water craft. Slap bang in the middle of the Cornish Riviera, other coastal hotspots nearby include Mevagissey, Looe and Fowey and we recommend the latter for a day of browsing galleries and boutiques followed by a waterside lunch and a spot of boat watching. A delightful and much sought-after coastal village of stone cottages and Regency houses, on the south coast near St. Austell. Famous for its collection of tall ships riding at anchor in the harbour, the shipwreck museum, excellent pubs and restaurants and easy access to the coastal path, its the perfect holiday destination. It has even been used as a filming location, most well known for appearing in Poldark. The area is rich in golf courses with Carlyon Bay and Porthpean close by. The picturesque fishing village of Mevagissey is 20 minutes' drive away by car, while the Lost Gardens of Heligan, several stately homes and gardens and the fabulous Eden Project are all within 5 miles, with Newquay and North Cornwall coast only a 35 minute drive away by car.
