If you can leave this wonderful retreat, explore Rock, with its local shops, beach and ferry to Padstow. Polzeath, a surfers’ paradise, awaits your discovery. There is the magnificent and world famous St Enodoc Golf Club close by for the sports enthusiast, whilst just across the River Camel Estuary lies enigmatic Padstow, with its buzzing quay, narrow streets revealing galleries, pubs and boutique shops, whilst the award winning chef Rick Stein has a stupendous seafood restaurant here too. From here, hire a bicycle and follow the Camel Trail, a mainly flat path on the site of the old railway line, part or all of the 18 miles to the market town of Bodmin, as it winds its way through country and waterside settings.
