Overview

Red Grouse Cottage is a Grade II listed three-bedroom home tucked away near the North York Moors National Park, in the market town of Guisborough. Located just a stone’s throw away from a range of local amenities, this pet-friendly property is the perfect place for a self-catered break, also a short distance from the coastline. Benefit from a permit parking space, sought-after in the area, before travelling up the external steps and into your new characterful abode. Reach the open-plan living space, complete with a plush seating area with a woodburning stove to set a calming atmosphere, a dedicated dining area for five, and a well-equipped kitchen, where you can rustle up tasty dishes. If the sun is shining, travel through the multi-level garden and set the patio table, where you can relish in an alfresco affair as the wine is poured and conversations flow. With three bedrooms on offer, select between a delightful single, a king-size with zip/link features for convenience, and a characterful second-floor king-size, enveloped by exposed stonework and brickwork, paying homage to the property’s origins. A sleek wet room completes the home, where you can get ready in style before exploring the town centre, brimming with convenient amenities across the market square. Take a short drive to the coastal town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, with its traditional Victorian Pier, or the fishing village of Staithes – the perfect place to take a leisurely stroll and admire the picturesque harbour- side setting. Further along the coast lies Whitby, a bustling seaside tourist town with its iconic Abbey, sandy beach, and the historic cobbled streets, or don your walking boots to traverse the Moors of Yorkshire, woven through the national park. Make lasting memories with your loved ones by booking Red Grouse Cottage.

    Directions
Guisborough is an attractive market town set in rural surroundings on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Steeped in history, Guisborough is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the town's most notable feature is the beautiful ruined abbey, Gisborough Priory; standing in full glory, to its original height of 97 feet, the dramatic gothic east gable towers high over the market town and has become a well-known icon of the town. This bustling small town has twice-weekly market days, a good selection of eateries, excellent pubs and many independent shops. Around Guisborough sits the spectacular woodland of Guisborough Forest. Guisborough Forest & Walkway is situated in Pinchinthorpe on the outskirts of Guisborough at the northern end of the A173. It extends for 2.5 miles along part of the route followed by the old Guisborough Branch Railway line, heading west towards Nunthorpe, and east to Guisborough Forest, which is managed by Forest Enterprise. It is a gateway site to the North York Moors National Park and offers splendid views of Roseberry Topping to the south. Points of local interest include Highcliff Nab and Hanging Stone. Captain Cook 92s Monument is also within walking distance. The Cleveland Way and the Tees Link walks pass through Guisborough Forest, and are just two of the many walking routes easily accessible to visitors. This super country park has cycle trails, walking routes, bridleways, a trim trail and an easier sculpture trail. The park includes the Guisborough Walkway which runs along the former trackbed of the Middlesbrough to Whitby railway line. This includes a wetland area with boardwalks, woodlands and grasslands. You can also climb Highcliff Nab for fabulous views of Teeside and the coast. The park is also very popular with mountain bikers with a number of super trails to explore. There is an excellent visitor centre with full details of all the trails in the park. The long distant trail of the Cleveland Way passes close by, whilst nearby Roseberry Topping is well worth the climb to take in the spectacular views. An easy thirty minute drive brings you to the Heritage Coastline, with historic villages and resorts, including Staithes, Saltburn and Whitby to enjoy.
