The pub in Tirril is within easy walking distance and provides a restaurant and small shop. A mile away in Yanwath is another pub/restaurant, renowned for its cuisine.
Activities available locally include pony trekking within Pooley Bridge and a variety of water sports on Ullswater, including sailing instruction, as well as some of the best fell walking in the Lake District National Park.
