A stunning privately owned 18th-century country house, dog-friendly The Powder Mills Hotel in Sussex is situated just outside the historic town of Battle, adjoining the famous Battlefield of 1066. Originally the site of a renowned gunpowder works, it has now been skilfully converted into a fascinating hotel with interesting historical quirks in every corner. Nestled among 150 acres of parklands, woods and lakes, you and your four-legged friend will love exploring the beauty of the surroundings without even leaving the hotel grounds! From the entrance hall, where a log fire welcomes you on long winter evenings, to the drawing-room and the elegant music room, the ambience is that of a traditional Georgian country house! The Orangery Restaurant has been awarded two AA rosettes for its consistently high quality of cooking and excellent service and is open for both residents and non-residents. During the winter months, afternoon cream teas are served in the cozy library or in the drawing-room in front of a roaring log fire.

Resident Springer Spaniels, Gemma and Amy, will greet you on arrival. Your dog will also enjoy roaming the hotel grounds!

Your pet will have the run of the 150-acre grounds (mostly off the lead). Walk into Battle through the fields — the hotel will provide you with a map. Battle Abbey is one mile from the hotel or Bodiam Castle in Robertsbridge is just over six miles from the hotel. Also, visit dog-friendly Sedlescombe Organic Vineyard for a spot of wine tasting.
