The former quarry and lead mining village of Middleton is set on a prominent hillside above the nearby towns of Wirksworth and Cromford, just eight miles from the popular destination of Matlock. The village layout is composed of a long main street leading into nearby Wirksworth, which is home to a village shop and a good local pub. The surrounding countryside offers wonderful walking and cycling routes throughout the region, with the disused High Peak Railway line close by recently converted into a path known as the High Peak Cycle Trail.
