A rare gem tucked away in the beautiful, rural countryside in the west of the country, dog-friendly Penbontbren in Wales is a luxury bed and breakfast converted from an old Welsh farm with five luxurious suites, each with its own garden and a spacious living room.

There's also The Farmhouse, a dog-friendly self-catering cottage. Although the charming, traditional character of the original farm has been maintained, the style throughout is more elegant country than rustic farmhouse, with sumptuous décor, plush furnishings and delightful little extras making for a lavishly comfortable stay.

It’s the ideal place for you and your four-legged companion to experience a break with true Welsh flavour, nestled in 18-acres of grounds surrounded by luscious countryside. Penbontbren's six outstanding suites were converted to an exceptional standard from the farm's original threshing barn, stable, mill and granary. While each room has been carefully renovated to maintain the charming traditional features of the farm, all have been designed to offer unabashed luxury; generous sitting rooms, private gardens, sumptuous king-size beds, superb bathrooms, fluffy bath sheets and bathrobes, White Company toiletries, tea & coffee facilities with Senseo coffee machines and fresh milk, flat screen TV and DVD player in both the bedrooms and sitting rooms, iPod docking station and complimentary Wi-Fi. The Farmhouse

A charming four-bedroom self-catering holiday cottage with it's own secure enclosed garden. Perfect for a large family or group of friends, The Farmhouse allows up to two dogs. Y Ffermday at Penbontbren is the 'picture-perfect' Farmhouse at this rural West Wales retreat. Set in 3 acres of grounds including breath-taking manicured gardens and a croquet lawn, this 1800's 'chocolate box' farmhouse delivers warmth and character within its spacious accommodation. Pretty in pale pink, Y Ffermday is a self-catering cottage that's brimming with cosy character; think low-beamed ceilings, huge inglenook, exposed stone walls and a focal point wood burning stove. There is characterful antique furniture throughout which gives a snug and homely feel. There's even a choice of two sumptuous sitting rooms. The farmhouse benefits from a large and very well equipped kitchen that leads through to a utility room which is perfect for muddy boots and wet dogs! This in turn flows through to the conservatory which opens on to a peaceful and extensive private garden which boasts uninterrupted rural views. The garden is well fenced in too so your four legged friend will be safe. Furthermore, guests are very welcome to make use of the beautiful tranquil extensive 3 acre communal gardens. Should you be requiring further accommodation, there is always the option of combining your booking with a suite at Penbontbrens luxury bed and breakfast. Situated just 3 miles from the popular Ceredigion coastline, with great views over the Preseli mountain but only 8 miles from the pretty market town of Cardigan, the location is perfect for exploring. The Penbontbren serves a substantial Welsh breakfast cooked using the very best fresh, wholesome ingredients; free-range eggs, award-winning sausages and locally cured bacon are but a few of the local culinary delights on offer. Vegetarian, fish and continental options are also available whilst your dog chills out in one of the spacious suites. For dinner, the owners Kathryn and Richard will be happy to point you in the right direction. There is an excellent choice of gastro delights nearby, from fine dining to award-winning fish and chips.
