Since Roman times, the road to Scotland has crossed the River Greta before climbing up the Stainmore pass and on to Carlisle. In the past, there was a large Roman settlement at Greta Bridge which is where The Morritt Hotel lies today.

Nestled on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, there is an abundance of walks to enjoy with your dog! Your dog can also expect a warm welcome and treat on arrival from the staff.
There is a wide variety of room types and styles to suit all needs and tastes, from Classic Doubles, Deluxe Doubles and Family rooms to the charming dog-friendly Burns Cottage. All bedrooms come with ensuite bathrooms, WiFi, satellite TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Some of the bedrooms are separate from the main building and a number of the Classic doubles are ideally located on the ground floor. The staff love dogs and provide water bowls and a special welcome gift including Pawsecco and a dog biscuit. A doggie pack including a dog bed and treats can also be arranged at a small cost to help your pooch settle in!

Dine with Your Dog
The Dickens Bar and Bistro is a classic country pub within The Morritt Hotel. Offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere, a traditional bar menu is available for light bites and hearty classic dishes. The gin selection is a fond favourite among visitors along with the cask ales on offer. Your pooch is welcome to join you as you relax in the bar, lounge and gardens or if you wish to have breakfast with your dog you may do so in the Bistro.
If you have someone to look after your pooch, you can dine at the award-winning Gilroy's restaurant which offers a contemporary yet fulfilling menu. The main focus of Alex Wood — Head Chef, is to use the freshest and most seasonal produce to deliver delicious food, including local meat and game from the neighbouring estates as well as fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in the gardens and the surrounding countryside.

Lovely hotel with high standards of service, excellent food and wonderful staff.
Relaxation in pleasant surroundings.
Friendly, approachable staff. Comfortable rooms. Good food well prepared and presented. Well appointed hotel. Ample parking. Good location. A very enjoyable stay.
