Overview

This substantial, three-storey Victorian property sits in the heart of Falmouth, just a short walk from a Gyllyngvase Beach. Melvill House has been sympathetically converted into a self-catering holiday property, ideal for a break with extended family and friends. On the ground floor there are two sitting rooms so there’s plenty of space to unwind into the evening, both with beautiful décor and Smart TVs for entertainment. Step through to the spacious dining room, fitted with a large bay window that uplifts the room with natural light, whilst seating for up to fourteen guests means the whole group can congregate at mealtimes. Double doors lead into the spacious kitchen, finished in a contemporary style with ample capacity to cook for larger groups. Step outside to the rear garden and relax on the furniture or get the barbecue roaring on a balmy evening. As the night rolls in, venture to the first floor and uncover the first set of bedrooms; choose from a family room with double and single bed or three double bedrooms, each benefitting from en-suite facilities so you won’t have to worry about queues in the morning! Continue to the second floor where there lies a triple room with three single beds and an en-suite shower, along with a single room with en-suite shower, making this floor ideal for the little ones. Those bedrooms positioned at the rear of the property enjoy views down to Falmouth harbour, the docks and over to Roseland Peninsula in the distance. Melvill House is a short walk from a mix of attractions, including several pubs and restaurants where you can treat the group to a meal out, plus many shops around the waterfront area. The Blue Flag award-winning sands of Gyllyngvase Beach rest just a short walk away, where lazy afternoons can be spent lounging on the sands or paddling the shores, whilst those looking for a bit of adventure can take to the water on a kayak or canoe. Head to the Event Square, where you can visit the National Maritime Museum and spot the beautiful superyachts that are moored, plus there are some excellent eateries here, including Rick Stein’s Restaurant with a fish and chip shop alongside. If exploration takes you further afield then the delights of Penryn are easily accessible, with its fascinating museums, the Flicka Foundation Donkey Sanctuary, and the beautiful Enys Gardens. Choose Melvill House to celebrate a special occasion or simply a family get-together.

Falmouth will keep you entertained for hours with its stunning natural harbour (the third largest in the world), winding alleys, and beaches. The town's historic taverns along the harbour, first-rate stores, art gallery, and spectacular National Maritime Museum only round off the experience. The most well-known sight in Falmouth is Henry VIII's Pendennis Castle, which is situated on a peninsula with stunning panoramic sea views. The lovely village of St. Mawes is located across from Falmouth Harbour and is encircled by the rocky coves, sandy beaches, and verdant landscape of the Roseland Peninsula. Take the passenger boat from Falmouth or drive the 15 kilometres there (15 minutes). Swanpool Nature Reserve, a lagoon and site of special scientific significance teeming with a variety of animals, is available for anyone who like the outdoors. There is a golf course as well. Falmouth has such a wide range of attractions and a beautiful setting that it is guaranteed to entice you back time and time again.
