Overview

With the best panoramic views in the area overlooking the bay, the beach, the sea, and of course, the quirky town that is Whitby, North Yorkshire, Mariner's Watch truly lives up to its name. This magnificent holiday property, which spans three storeys is located just below Whitby Abbey on the quaint "Donkey Track," which runs alongside to the renowned 199 Steps. Ideal for a family celebration or a luxurious stay with friends. A returning mariner built this double-fronted brick villa at the turn of the 20th century, and it is perfect all year round thanks to its well-appointed interior with an inviting wood burning stove, triple-aspect garden, and covered hot tub area. After a day of experiencng this famous location, you and your loved ones are invited to unwind in the tastefully appointed living spaces inside. Before heading to the dining room to eat and make plans for another exciting day, have the group's chef whip up a sumptuous supper. After this, gather in the living room and cuddle up as the wood burning stove flickers. A handy en-suite for added privacy is available in one of the five excellent bedrooms, while the other four are serviced by a bathroom and a ground-floor shower room. Enjoy a cup of coffee while enjoying the view in the sun room when you first wake up, or perhaps head outside to the hot tub in the garden for a relaxing soak. The garden, which has views to the north, south, and west, is another eye-catching feature of this house. The west offers a more private spot away from the track and is ideal for catching the last of the evening sun with a glass of wine. There are many things to do when it's time to go outside, such as spending the day relaxing on Whitby Beach's soft sands, visiting the Whitby and Captain Cook Museums, and tasting local beers at the Whitby Brewery. Culture vultures may fill their days with activities like seeing a performance at the Whitby Pavilion, exploring the majestic Whitby Abbey, eating seafood at The Marine Bar & Restaurant, or even going on a whale-watching excursion. If you want to leave the town you could walk along the Cleveland Way or consider going to Robin Hood's Bay, where you can check out the National Trust Old Coastguard Station, tour the Robin Hood's Bay Museum, have a bite to eat at The Cove, stroll down the beach at low tide to Boggle Hole, and more. A little further away, in the well-known town of Scarborough, visitors may enjoy attractions including Alpamare and Luna Park, Scarborough Castle, the SEA LIFE centre, and the Scarborough Open Air Theatre. Choose Mariner's Watch, an amazing holiday home for making lifelong memories.

    Location

    Directions
Located in North Yorkshire's Scarborough region, the coastal town and port of Whitby is near the mouth of the River Esk. This area is a great jumping off point for excursions around this scenic region of Yorkshire, and there are many things to do in the vicinity to ensure you make the most of your time in the countryside and along the coast. Blue Flag beaches and the North York Moors are only two of the many attractions in this area. Whitby's beautiful ambience is just one of its many appealing features; the town's winding alleyways and hidden alleys are home to several restaurants and stores. Visit the scenic harbour and lighthouse to take in a sunset, or go whale watching or on a coastal cruise to get up close and personal with marine life. Visit the Captain Cook Memorial Museum, which features a historical and ethnographic exhibition on Cook himself, or hike the 199 stairs up to Whitby Abbey. Being so close to Robin Hood's Bay, full of history, wonders, and scenic sites, and so close to the thriving cities of Scarborough and Middlesbrough, Whitby is a great base from which to explore everything that Yorkshire has to offer.
