From the cottage you can easily explore the beautiful Kentmere valley both on foot or bicycle with routes including the Kentmere Horseshoe. The climb up Reston Scar, although steep, will reward you with beautiful views across the South Lakes. Just a stones throw away is Staveley Mill Yard which has a brewery, bicycle shop, a cookery school, artisan bakers and a café. There is also an excellent village pub so it is possible you may arrive here and never move your car as everything is literally on hand. A visit to Lake Windermere is a must and this beautiful lake is just 5 miles away. From Bowness-on-Windermere you can hop on board the Windermere Steamer and cruise up the lake to the popular Lakeland town of Ambleside at the head of the lake or down to Lakeside and visit the Aquarian of the Lakes. This lovely holiday cottage makes a great base for a super, family holiday.

Staveley is situated on the eastern fringes of the Lake District National Park and offers superb access to the whole region. Kentmere Valley is just a short walk away and with the River Kent tumbling its way through the valley to Staveley, it is very popular with mountain bikers and walkers alike. Staveley Mill Yard is a former wood turning mill, which is now a thriving tourist attraction with cycle hire and outdoor shops, artisan bakery, brewery and the renowned Wilf's Cafe. This complements the excellent range of amenities in the village, which include a variety of shops, two village pubs, craft shops, a children's playground, a regular bus service and a railway station.
