Flamborough, a charming village just four miles from Bridlington on the East Yorkshire coast, enjoys a picture-perfect location on a small peninsula. Flamborough is a wonderful place for hikers, historians, and birdwatchers, and it also features historic fishermen's cottages and a few friendly pubs and eateries. Eight miles of this coastline are protected as a Heritage site, and at Flamborough Head you may see not one but two ancient lighthouses, including Britain's very first, constructed in 1674. The spectacular 400-foot-high cliffs to the north of the village are home to one of the greatest colonies of nesting sea birds in England. Visit the puffins at Bempton, hike the woodland ravine at Danes Dyke, and delve into the smugglers' tunnels at North Landing. Try your hand at fishing or take a boat out to the nearby caverns. Flamborough Head is a great destination if you love taking in panoramic views of the coast and the fresh sea breeze.
