The rolling waves are great for surfing year-round, and the footpaths by the restored canal or on the North Cornwall coastal path let you explore the outstanding countryside. Bude has a golf course, indoor pool, bowling alley/indoor play area, and Castle Heritage Centre. It has shops, supermarkets, cafes, pubs, restaurants, and an excellent Information Centre. Warbstow Bury, a hill fort with panoramic views, is a short drive away. Take the coast road north to see the Hartland Point lighthouse or walk or ride a donkey down Clovelly's steep, cobbled village street to the harbour and pub below. Crackington Haven, Boscastle, King Arthur's castle at Tintagel, Doc Martin's Port Wenn at Port Isaac, and Polzeath are along the opposite coast.
