    There are numerous public footpaths for walkers to enjoy and a section of the North Wales cycle route cuts through Llanllechid. In around ten minutes you may drive to Penryhn Castle owned by the National Trust with its grand rooms and attractive gardens. Or if you prefer a little retail therapy the city of Bangor is a further five minutes away. Ask for the quick route to Aber Falls and you could be at the start of a really nice and not too arduous walk in about 15 minutes to see the waterfall. Slightly further afield there are numerous attractive places to visit both seaside and hillside. As you step out of the front door of the cottage you are immediately on the cycle track route from Llanaelhaearn to Caernarfon.

    Just a short walk from the cottage is a pebbled beach and access to the Wales coastal path with fabulous panoramic views across to Anglesey and the Lleyn Peninsula.

    The Snowdonia National Park is close by for a fine selection of outdoor pursuits which include the Snowdon Mountain Railway, climbing to the summit of Mount Snowdon, Wales’ highest mountain, Zip World and Surf Snowdonia, as well as being a paradise for walkers and cyclists. Historic Caernarfon is within easy reach and is home to the Welsh Highland Railway, providing a spectacular narrow-gauge steam journey to Beddgelert and Porthmadog.     Brig-y-Don is a spacious detached property, cleverly divided into two properties, which can be booked separately or both together if you have an extended family. The larger of the two, Brig-y-Don, sleeps six, and has a lovely kitchen/dining room with stunning views out over the sparkling waters of Cardigan Bay, and a spacious living room with a warming wood burner – ideal for relaxing in front of with a glass of wine. The smaller property, Brig-y-Don Bach, which is all on one level, has a separate entrance and a private patio to the side of the house. You can enjoy a trip on a steam train on the Fairbourne Railway, Talyllyn Railway or Ffestiniog Railway, all of which are nearby, or visit mighty Harlech Castle, perched on the cliff in the picturesque town of Harlech (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). If adrenaline’s your thing, a visit to Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog is a must. Here you’ll find the world’s largest zip wire zone, plus Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets and whizz down slides deep underground in an old slate cavern.
