Crieff, 7 miles, is where you will find several amenities, including a popular delicatessen, cafés and a supermarket, as well as an array of shops. But, perhaps more appealing, is ‘The Famous Grouse whisky distillery’, at Glenturret, where you can take a tour – you might even get a taste! Several events are also held throughout the year, including ‘The Crieff Highland Games’ and autumn’s ‘Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival’.

You will be in your element in this area if you are a fan of the outdoors, as the mountains call walkers, hikers and cyclists alike. Loch Earn is ideal for water sports and there are plenty of fishing, golfing, cycling and horse riding opportunities in the surrounding area. Speaking of horse riding, based on the farm there is an equestrian eventing facility, amongst 80 acres of wooded parkland, where you could tackle some of the 100 cross country jumps. If you prefer to stay on your own two feet then walking with the wildlife is highly recommended.

If all that outdoor activity leaves you in search of some retail therapy or a good night out, then the city of Perth is just 7 miles away. Here you will be spoilt for choice with places to wine and dine. You could even go to the theatre! A great way to experience the city is to take a boat trip on the River Tay (seasonal). This area has lots to offer, not least its many historic castles, including Scone Palace, Drummond Castle and Garden, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, Hopetoun House and for fans of the TV series ‘Outlander’, there are numerous locations used in the making of the series. Edinburgh, Stirling and Glasgow are all easily accessible for day trips. What are you waiting for?

This lovely detached log cabin, with a turf roof, has been carefully furnished throughout to provide stylish and welcoming accommodation. Its mix of contemporary furnishings combined with the wooden walls creates a warm and inviting home, perfect at any time of the year. The high ceiling in the living room provides a light and airy feel, whilst the cosiness of the wood burner is a real delight on colder days. The living room leads out onto the patio overlooking the decking. Its idyllic location, amongst a variety of trees in a secluded position, yet within easy access to the village of Kirkmichael, makes it a real haven for relaxation. Watch the variety of wildlife on the doorstep - plenty of red squirrels, roe deer and woodland birds who love the peaceful environment, can be easily seen. The property really is a hideaway, accessed by a non-tarmac track and in winter, the track can get snowy and icy. However, the owners are on hand should you need assistance.
From the sloping 3-acre garden, interspersed with pathways, there are excellent walks through the mixed woodland onto heath and moor which opens up to breathtaking views, perfect for hill and dog walkers. In particular there is the Cateran Trail – a 100 mile circular walk through the Angus Glens and Perthshire. Winter sports at Glenshee Ski Slopes provide extensive skiing and snowboarding facilities, and are located just a short drive away. The popular towns of Pitlochry and Blairgowrie are just 13 miles equidistant with a great variety of shops, a theatre, fine dining restaurants, cafés and a distillery, all well worth a visit. Golfers can test their skills on over 30 courses in the area, and for the more adventurous there is mountain biking, fishing and horse riding. Throughout the year many events are held in the region including The Strathardle Gathering every August (Highland Games), The Etape Caledonia Cycling Event in May, The Perthshire Open Studios and The Blairgowrie Book Festival in October, which can be enjoyed whilst staying in this lovely property. For the more adventurous, the area has much to offer including cycling and hill walking in the Ochil Hills, Auchterarder golf course and the championship Gleneagles course just a short drive away. There is also an equestrian centre, falconry centre and shooting school to enjoy. After a busy day, enjoy a delicious meal at Restaurant Andrew Fairlie, a 2 Michelin star dining experience.
The Royal Burgh of Auchterarder has a 1½ mile long high street, which offers a fine selection of quality independent shops, galleries, cafés and restaurants. For those who enjoy learning of the local culture and history, there are many castles, historic houses and gardens to choose from including Stirling Castle, Doune Castle and Drummond Castle Gardens. There are three whisky distilleries and visitor attractions close by, and with Crieff, Perth and Stirling only a short drive away, you’ll never be stuck for things to do. Just over an hour away are the cosmopolitan cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh. If you prefer to leave the car behind, the local railway station provides links to all major towns and cities. Cluny is in a quiet rural spot yet only 20 minutes’ walk into Aberfeldy on the banks of the River Tay. The town has much to offer with a bakery, butcher, supermarket, local shops and cafés, bars and restaurants. An art déco cinema has a regular program of events running throughout the year and the town also hosts a farmers’ market and annual events such as the Etap Caledonia Cycle race and Highland games. Within a short drive you can experience the bustling tourist town of Pitlochry with it theatre, salmon ladder and tourist shops. This area of Highland Perthshire is well known for outdoor activities with white water rafting, fishing, golf, cycling and hill walking available nearby. Relaxing walks along the River Tay or follow in the footsteps of Rabbie Burn up the Birks of Aberfeldy you are always surrounded by beautiful scenery. Beach 7 miles.
