    The School House is a truly wonderful detached, Grade II listed stone built cottage situated in a rural position in the hamlet of Bradnop, less than 1 mile from the picturesque Peak District National Park. Many of the original features have been carefully retained including beams, exposed stone walls and fireplace to name but a few.     The small and pretty rural hamlet of Bradnop is situated on the western edge of the Peak District National Park. Close by you will find the market town of Leek with its array of antique shops and quirky crafts. The thriving picturesque market town of Ashbourne and the spa town of Buxton are within driving distance. For families and the more adventurous, Alton Towers is only a 5 mile drive away.
    Nearby you will find superb walks with Dovedale, the beautiful Manifold Valley, and the popular Manifold Cycle Track, all within easy reach. There are lots of pretty villages to explore one being Hartington where you will find tasty local cheeses in the village cheese shop, also close by there are several pubs serving fantastic home cooked food.     Rue Hayes Farm Cottage can be found on the friendly owner’s working farm, set amongst the most glorious countryside on the south western edge of the Peak District National Park. Rue Hayes Farm first appeared in historical records in the mid 17th century, and has become a site of historical interest following the recent discovery of a hoard of over 50 Saxon silver half cross coins on the farm. The hoard has been sent to Birmingham Museum so they can assess their historical importance.

    Magnificent views surround the property, which was completely renovated in 2018, and guests are welcome to walk in the owner’s woodland grounds. A path runs through the farm which leads to walking and exploring direct from the door. Dovedale, the Manifold Valley, and the Manifold Cycle Track are all within easy reach, together with local cycle hire if you don’t want to bring your own bike. After a day spent in the great outdoors you can come back, sit and relax in the bubbling hot tub in true peaceful surroundings with the most beautiful views (bathrobes are provided for those guests hiring the hot tub).
    The small sandstone village of Onecote is about 1½ miles away, whilst the hillside market town of Leek is about 4 miles. Here you will find a charming cobbled market place and a wide selection of shops, restaurants and real ale pubs. Buxton and Ashbourne can both be reached in under half an hour, as can the Three Shires Head, which is the meeting point of the counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Chatsworth House, Matlock and Matlock Bath with the famous cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham, can all be reached in approximately 45 minutes, as can Trentham Gardens, Monkey Forest, and the National Trust’s Little Moreton Hall. Finally with Alton Towers just 20 minutes away, there really is the option to do as much or as little as you like. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

    Enjoy quality family time by staying in the beautiful area of the Peak District on the owner’s working livestock farm, where there is no light pollution and a great location for stargazing at night. Carr View (Ref UK36953) is one of two holiday properties finished to an extremely high standard and the owner takes great pride in ensuring you have the perfect stay. On the ground floor you will enter into the boot room, which has a neatly placed washing machine in a cupboard, kick your boots off and enter into the beautifully designed open plan kitchen which has all you need to enjoy your self-catering holiday with the dining room which has ample seating for six guests made up of chairs and a bench. The living room is very cosy with comfy sofas and an electric wood burner to bring a wonderful sense of relaxation to the room. Upstairs are three bedrooms, all with zip and link beds that can be made into twins on request, the master bedroom has a slightly larger bed and an en-suite. The family bathroom carries the same quality as the rest of the house and has been done beautifully, with walk in shower and bath.
    Outside is a garden with a patio area and lawn, perfect to watch the sun rise and set. There is also a river running through the site, and a lake giving the opportunity for some cold water wild swimming!
    The helpful owners, that live on-site, are on hand should you need anything, and provide luxury towels, complimentary toiletries, a welcome pack and even a Christmas tree for holidays throughout December.
    There are electric car charging points just 5 minutes away in The Anglers Rest pub car park, and just 10 minutes away in the Hope village car park.
    The location of this property offers seclusion with many fantastic countryside walks from the doorstep and a National Cycle Route nearby, so you wouldn’t really need to take the car. Or alternatively, a short drive into Castleton to visit the caves or venture into nearby towns of Bakewell and Buxton. Absorb the life of a working farm in the Peak District by visiting the cows, watching the lambs play and the chickens from the dining room window.
