This wonderfully appointed country cottage rests on the outskirts of the pretty village of Chatton, tucked between the picturesque National Park and the breath-taking coastline of Northumberland.
Farmside Cottage promises a heart-warming stay for a family or couple looking to get away from it all and spend some time within an area of tranquillity but close enough to all amenities. Step into this characterful dwelling, offering everything you will need during your stay. Look forward to sinking into the sofa or one of 2 comfy chairs with a well-deserved beverage in this well designed, spacious living room boasting a wonderful blend of contemporary styling and traditional features to offer an idyllic space to spend your evenings relaxing in front of the Inglenook fireplace.
The dedicated chef will delight in this modern country cottage style kitchen with quality appliances on offer to help you prepare a hearty Northumbrian meal for the whole family to enjoy. Don’t fancy cooking? A short stroll will bring you to the local pub which serves a superb dining menu and a welcoming atmosphere to complement. Head upstairs where there are two well-presented bedrooms, comprising of a kingsize bedroom and a charming twin bedroom, each promising a delightful space to wake up to each morning. Refresh in the downstairs bathroom and take advantage of the large rainfall shower ahead of another exciting day.
Head outside to the side patio area with breath-taking uninterrupted views over the Kyloe Hills, a truly idyllic sun trap. Enjoy a BBQ or some al-fresco dining whilst watching the sunset – a view you will never forget! Head into Chatton; a gorgeous country village nestled in the pretty Northumbrian Valley, bordered by the Cheviots. The village has a great pub, recently renovated and it serves hearty Northumbrian dishes in a hunting-lodge inspired interior. Keen walkers are sure to be impressed by St Cuthberts Way, a 100-kilometre long-distance trail between the Scottish Borders town of Melrose and Lindisfarne off the coast of Northumberland, named after a 7th-century saint. The nearby town of Wooler is set along the last leg of the journey, so you needn’t traverse the full length. Wooler itself is just under 4 miles away and features a good range of shops, pubs, restuarants and facilities such as a post office and chemist.
The village store and Chatton art gallery compliment the quaint village atmosphere and the village green planted with pretty shrubs in the summer. If you fancy something exciting, why not visit Chillingham Castle less than 2 miles from Farmside Cottage and book onto one of their ghost tours! Why not try something a little different? Discover your inner country-self and try clay pigeon shooting at Fowberry Moor Farm in Wooler, where they also offer wine tasting too! A short 20 minute drive brings you to the popular village of Bamburgh! Bamburgh is a stunningly attractive small village set on the northern stretch of the Northumberland Coast. It is without doubt dominated by its magnificently striking castle that can be seen for miles around, giving the whole village a somewhat dramatic feeling.
Why not hit the waves yourself with a trip to the Farne Islands? Take a boat trip from Seahouses and see the Medieval Pele Tower and Victorian Lighthouse, as well as the famous seabird colony. Depending on the time of year, you might catch a glimpse of the friendly seals and puffins that visit the islands’ shores. Golfers flock to Bamburgh, where the Bamburgh Castle Golf Club offers a particularly picturesque round. It’s short but tough and boasts some of the best views in the country!
