The village has everything you could need, yet still retains its quaint village beauty, with the chocolate box thatched cottages and historic Alms houses. The tranquil Thornton beck winds through the village, with many walking trails to follow. On the village green there’s the original stocks and market cross, where on Sundays during the summer months. local bands plays music to entertain you whilst you sit back and enjoy one of the wonderful ice-creams the village is renowned for.

Only a couple of miles away is the traditional Yorkshire market town of Pickering, which combines atmospheric old inns, 12th-century castle, museum, remarkable medieval frescoes in the local church, and the North York Moors Railway taking visitors on a nostalgic steam train journey through the spectacular heather-clad moorland scenery.

The ancient City of York is just 26 miles away and offers the majestic minster, the fascinating Jorvik Viking Centre, the Castle Museum, the National Railway Museum, and excellent shopping facilities. Castle Howard, setting for TV’s Brideshead Revisited, Nunnington Hall (National Trust), Duncombe Park, and Rievaulx Abbey, are just a few of the local treasures to discover. On the east coast lie the popular seaside resorts of Scarborough, 15 miles, and Filey, 19 miles, the serene fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay and the captivating old port of Whitby 20 miles, with its Captain Cook connections, as well as miles of sandy beaches and a colourful harbour. Just a 10-minute drive away visitors can enjoy Flamingo Land Theme Park and zoo or Dalby Forest, where there is a plethora of woodland walks, a visitor’s centre, picnic areas, bikes to hire and the popular “Go Ape” treetop zip lines. Paddock House is a beautiful detached, stone-built bungalow situated in Middleham, Wensleydale, nestled away peacefully just behind Middleham village square. The property feels warm and welcoming no matter what the weather. There’s ample private parking at the property with a double garage that can be used for storage. It is an excellent property which is exceptionally large and offers plenty of space for all family members. There are two living rooms and the bedrooms offer a great combination for sleeping arrangements with a super kingsize, two zip and link super kingsize beds that can be made up as singles on request, and a double sofa bed. Hairdryers are available. There is a double vanity unit in bedroom 1’s en-suite bathroom, and a single vanity unit in the main bathroom. The bungalow is perfect for that family or group get together. Step out of the patio doors from the living room into a beautiful landscaped garden and patio, a lovely outside place to entertain or simply take in the stunning views. Beyond the garden is an enclosed paddock, which can be used by guests to enjoy when it is not being grazed by sheep.
This ideal location is within 2 minutes of restaurants, pubs, cafés, small independent shops and local village store. Middleham is renowned for its castle, formerly home to Richard III, and several race horse stables. A fabulous sight to watch as the horses are led through the village each day up onto the gallops. Wensleydale is awash with beautiful scenery and pretty villages making Paddock House a superb place to stay and explore the Yorkshire Dales and its attractions. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

Garden Cottage is located in the Yorkshire Wolds on the edge of the Settrington Estate, just 4 miles from the historic market town of Malton and centrally located for the tourist attractions of Scarborough, Filey, York and Helmsley. Formerly a tied cottage attached to Settrington Estate, the alterations and interior design of this detached property offer guests superb quality and boutique-style accommodation. There is a utility room which leads to a large kitchen with all the mod cons, and a large dining room with dual aspect views across the estate’s walled gardens, which takes in a beautiful view of the cottage’s own expansive grounds. The popular market town of Skipton is 3 miles away and offers a host of things to do for all ages.
