Rue Hayes Farm Cottage can be found on the friendly owner’s working farm, set amongst the most glorious countryside on the south western edge of the Peak District National Park. Rue Hayes Farm first appeared in historical records in the mid 17th century, and has become a site of historical interest following the recent discovery of a hoard of over 50 Saxon silver half cross coins on the farm. The hoard has been sent to Birmingham Museum so they can assess their historical importance.

Magnificent views surround the property, which was completely renovated in 2018, and guests are welcome to walk in the owner’s woodland grounds. A path runs through the farm which leads to walking and exploring direct from the door. Dovedale, the Manifold Valley, and the Manifold Cycle Track are all within easy reach, together with local cycle hire if you don’t want to bring your own bike. After a day spent in the great outdoors you can come back, sit and relax in the bubbling hot tub in true peaceful surroundings with the most beautiful views (bathrobes are provided for those guests hiring the hot tub).
The small sandstone village of Onecote is about 1½ miles away, whilst the hillside market town of Leek is about 4 miles. Here you will find a charming cobbled market place and a wide selection of shops, restaurants and real ale pubs. Buxton and Ashbourne can both be reached in under half an hour, as can the Three Shires Head, which is the meeting point of the counties of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Chatsworth House, Matlock and Matlock Bath with the famous cable car ride to the Heights of Abraham, can all be reached in approximately 45 minutes, as can Trentham Gardens, Monkey Forest, and the National Trust’s Little Moreton Hall. Finally with Alton Towers just 20 minutes away, there really is the option to do as much or as little as you like. Shop 4 miles, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
