Set in a quiet area within the village of Cheddar, The Stables is only 1½ miles from Cheddar Gorge and caves, as well as numerous pubs and restaurants. Suitable for either active breaks, with walking on the Mendip Hills and the wildlife of the Somerset Levels, or just to relax in comfort. Close by is the cathedral city of Wells, 5½ miles, Glastonbury, 11 miles, and Weston-super-Mare, 13 miles. The cities of Bath and Bristol are less than 50 minutes away. Beach 13 miles. Royal Oak Farm is a detached, thatched holiday cottage full of character, situated in the heart of Winsford, one of Exmoor’s prettiest villages. Some of the original parts of the cottage date back to the 14th century. There is generous living space and a large enclosed garden to enjoy. Winsford is located in the heart of Exmoor National Park. There is an inviting pub next to the cottage and a local shop within walking distance. The cottage is surrounded by the majesty of Exmoor and there is easy access to some spectacular country walks on the moorland with an extensive network of well marked footpaths. Dulverton is located 6 miles away and has a wider range of shops, restaurants and tea rooms. A visit to Tarr Steps and Dunkery Beacon, highest point on Exmoor, are some of the highlights. Wimball Lake is a short drive away where you can enjoy the wildlife that surrounds the lake, or enjoy sailing, canoeing or angling on the lake. Other local attractions that may be of interest are the village and castle at Dunster, the West Somerset Railway at Minehead and the villages of Porlock Weir, Lynton and Lynmouth. There are beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor. Shop 100 yards and pub 20 yards.

This characteristic, 15th-century cottage with its thatched roof and unusual feature of terracotta tiled exterior make this a unique holiday destination. Although having all the old charm outside, internally the cottage has been finished to a very good standard and provides a comfortable and convenient interior. The semi-detached cottage is situated in the Exmoor town of Dulverton not far from the banks of the River Barle. So, whether you want to wander into the town centre, enjoy one of the local pubs and restaurants, or sit by the river and watch the world pass by, all this can be done without having to step foot in the car. There is superb scenery and walking on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor and many other places to visit to make a memorable holiday. The Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge (NT), valley of the rocks and the funicular cliff railway are close by. Looking towards Minehead, there is the promenade to enjoy a relaxing walk and an ice cream, as well as having a good array of shops and other amenities. The West Somerset Railway is worth a visit for those with an interest in steam engines. Dunster Castle (NT) and village, with its beautiful terraced gardens, Deer Park and Mill will make for an interesting day out as well as Porlock Weir. Located in stunning Exmoor National Park and just 55 minutes from Exeter, this beautiful, semi-detached, Grade II thatched cottage is situated a few steps away from a pub, which is also owned by the cottage’s owner. Here you can indulge in some tasty fayre made with locally sourced fresh produce or simply pop along for a drink or two in traditional and comfortable surroundings.
The accommodation comprises three bedrooms on the first floor; a super kingsize and main bathroom with a clawfoot bath and a walk-in wardrobe, which are accessed via the first staircase on one side of the cottage, and bunk bedroom and double room, both benefiting from a ‘Jack and Jill’ style en-suite shower room, with a double size rain shower cubicle. These rooms are accessed via a quirky spiral-style staircase so some care should be taken going up and down. There are two characterful reception rooms, one with a double sofa bed and a Smart TV, and the other a comfortable snug where you can escape to and enjoy the gas wood burner. There’s a handy downstairs toilet and a utility room too. The kitchen has everything you’ll need for your stay including a Smeg coffee machine, toaster and kettle, and a Neff oven and combi microwave. Outside you’ll be able to enjoy the large lawned garden with a lovely patio where you can have al fresco meals or just relax with a drink. To the rear of the cottage there is also a handy bike store.
Exmoor National Park is a walker’s paradise. Or, if you’re more of an energetic type, you can run, cycle or indeed simply relax enjoying the magical night skies of Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’. The park also has abundant wildlife, including ponies, sheep and red deer that graze the open moorland, and overhead you might see falcons, buzzards and even the rare merlin. The area is also perfect for exploring North Devon with all its attractions, such as the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages like beautiful Lynton and Lynmouth, and stunning cliff top sites such as Valley of the Rocks. The location is also perfect for exploring the rest of north Somerset, and the beautiful city of Exeter is just 55 minutes or so by car. Beach 11½ miles.

The Cow Shed has been lovingly converted by the owners, who have years of experience in the hospitality industry, and this really shows inside and out. Enter through the stunning glass door, and you will find a ground floor twin bedroom, and a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room just off the hallway. From here, two steps lead down into the wonderful, large, open-plan living space, where gorgeous furnishings and fittings such as olive bucket lightshades set the scene for the stunning views of the Blackdown Hills beyond. Upstairs are two large bedrooms (one has a zip and link twin or super kingsize bed, and the other has a fabulous kingsize designer sleigh bed). An impressive bathroom with a roll-top bath and separate shower cubicle can also be found here. Outside, the huge patio area has multiple seating areas and a stunning 6-8 person hot tub, where you can crack open the bubbly and watch the sun set beyond. There is also access to a lovely lawned area for games.
Set in the lovely village of Bishopswood, with the Somerset Wildlife Trust running adjacent to the property, you are only 5 minutes’ walk from the local pub and surrounded by miles of beautiful walks. The market town of Honiton is just 10 miles away and the beach at Lyme Regis can be reached within a 30-minute drive. Heading north, you will find the county town of Taunton with lots of restaurants, cinema, bowling and shopping, and within an hour’s drive you will find Glastonbury, Street, Minehead and the moors of Exmoor! On arrival, enter through the private gates and take in the individuality of this unusual coastal beach house, which was fully refurbished in 2018. Just a 20-minute walk or 3-minute drive will take you to the beaches of Berrow and Burnham-on-Sea, with Burnham having plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and amusements on offer for you. The Golf Club is just a 10-minute walk or 2-minute drive away for those keen to get on the green while on holiday. Jump in the car and explore the nearby town of Weston Super Mare with its fantastic Pier, Donkey rides and many shops and restaurants. If a day in the city takes your fancy, there is a train from Weston that will take you in to Bath or Bristol for a day of exploring. The ancient medieval town of Glastonbury is just over 30-minute drive away, explore the quirky high street and head up the Tor for amazing views!

Set just 50 yards from the seafront of Minehead, Blenheim Park House is a fabulous 3-storey home with sea views from both the living room and master bedroom. Butlins resort is a short walk away and day passes can be found on-line. For those wishing to explore the area, there are numerous walks from the front door, or head up North Hill onto Exmoor for exceptional views. Quaint Exmoor villages with wonderful tea rooms and country pubs with traditional food are great finds on a day out!
