Kate’s Cottage is a mid-terraced, stone built cottage set in the heart of the Castle Howard Estate between Malton and Helmsley. This romantic little cottage is packed with character providing the perfect hideaway for a couple who enjoy cycling, walking and exploring this beautiful part of North Yorkshire.
Downstairs provides an open plan living space, with beamed ceilings, stone floors and a traditional window seat offering views out along the village. Comfortable seating surrounds the traditional wood burner, perfect for those cooler winter evenings. The bespoke kitchen is well-equipped with a Belfast sink, granite worktops and a quarry tiled floor. The breakfast bar is adjacent and makes a lovely addition to this sociable space. As with many old Yorkshire cottages, the stairs to the first floor are tucked away behind a wooden door and lead straight into the double bedroom. With views of the village and the luxury of an en-suite with roll top bath and underfloor heating, this part of the cottage really does have a homely feel. The magnificent stately home of the Howard family, Castle Howard, is a short drive from the cottage and is home to ITVs ‘Victoria’ programme and of course the filming location of ‘Brideshead Revisited’.
