Kate’s Cottage is a mid-terraced, stone built cottage set in the heart of the Castle Howard Estate between Malton and Helmsley. This romantic little cottage is packed with character providing the perfect hideaway for a couple who enjoy cycling, walking and exploring this beautiful part of North Yorkshire.
Downstairs provides an open plan living space, with beamed ceilings, stone floors and a traditional window seat offering views out along the village. Comfortable seating surrounds the traditional wood burner, perfect for those cooler winter evenings. The bespoke kitchen is well-equipped with a Belfast sink, granite worktops and a quarry tiled floor. The breakfast bar is adjacent and makes a lovely addition to this sociable space. As with many old Yorkshire cottages, the stairs to the first floor are tucked away behind a wooden door and lead straight into the double bedroom. With views of the village and the luxury of an en-suite with roll top bath and underfloor heating, this part of the cottage really does have a homely feel. The local village pub is a mere three minute walk from the cottage and is well known for its beer festivals and pizza nights. The magnificent stately home of the Howard family, Castle Howard, is a short drive from the cottage and is home to ITVs ‘Victoria’ programme and of course the filming location of ‘Brideshead Revisited’. A day exploring the house and gardens will be a welcome addition to your holiday itinerary and you simply must try the cakes on offer from one of the tea rooms! The Christmas experience is also one of the very best in the country. There are also other stately homes in the surrounding area, including Duncombe Park and Nunnington Hall.
