    Sutton Staithe is your gateway to the Norfolk Broads (1 mile away) connecting onto the River Ant which flows onto Barton Broad, How Hill and Ludham Bridge. Daily boat hire and river trips available to explore the miles of waterways. Excellent river fishing and local lake fishing is also available (seasonal and licence required) and The Norfolk Broads Museum (seasonal opening) where you can discover the history of boating and The Broads all nearby. The Broads and three pubs serving local beers and food are all within a mile and there is direct private access to Weavers Way public footpath, with Hickling only a mile away. The village centre of Stalham is just 2½ miles. Having everything you need, cafés, bakery, supermarket, chemist, petrol station, beauticians, take away food options and eateries. Wroxham, known as the Capital of the Broads, is only 9½ miles with shops, a supermarket, cafés and restaurants. This is also home to the Bure Valley Railway, a narrow steam gauge railway visiting the nearby village of Coltishall and the market town of Aylsham.
    For quieter sandy beaches, take a trip to Waxham and Horsey, where wide sandy beaches back on to sand dunes. Closed to beachgoers between the months of November and January parts of Horsey Beach are protected whilst the large (numbering in the thousands) grey seal colony is in pupping season, Viewing areas above the beach provide a fantastic opportunity to see adults and pups up close. For great family fun days visit BeWILDerwood, a tree-top adventure in Horning, Roarr Dinosaur Adventure at Lenwade, indoor soft play, slides, outdoor adventure and splash park and Wroxham Barns with a small petting farm and play park.
    The historic city of Norwich, 15 miles, is definitely worth a visit, having two excellent indoor shopping malls, market square, cafés, restaurants, pubs, cathedral, theatres and castle museum. The livelier seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, is only 16 miles away with amusements, fun fair, pier, wax works, shops and restaurants. Excellent walking can be enjoyed from the doorstep with the Weavers Way running through the town of Stalham and providing great opportunities to explore on foot or by cycle. The Norfolk Wildlife Trust (NWT) Hickling Nature Reserve is around 2 miles away with nature trails, bird watching hides and boat trips - you may even spot the UK’s largest Butterfly, the Swallow Tail!
