Beach options vary from Sea Palling (closest at around 10 minutes drive) with an RNLI patrolled sandy beach backed by sand dunes, cafés, pub and amusements to quieter beaches such as Cart Gap or Happisburgh.
Sutton Staithe is your gateway to the Norfolk Broads (1 mile away) connecting onto the River Ant which flows onto Barton Broad, How Hill and Ludham Bridge. Daily boat hire and river trips available to explore the miles of waterways. Excellent river fishing and local lake fishing is also available (seasonal and licence required) and The Norfolk Broads Museum (seasonal opening) where you can discover the history of boating and The Broads all nearby. The historic city of Norwich, 15 miles, is definitely worth a visit, having two excellent indoor shopping malls, market square, cafés, restaurants, pubs, cathedral, theatres and castle museum. The livelier seaside resort of Great Yarmouth, is only 16 miles away with amusements, fun fair, pier, wax works, shops and restaurants. Excellent walking can be enjoyed from the doorstep with the Weavers Way running through the town of Stalham and providing great opportunities to explore on foot or by cycle.
