Head to Cromer and walk along its famous pier, or to Wells-Next-The-Sea and explore the much photographed quay and painted beach huts. Potter around the Georgian market town of Holt with its abundance of artisan cafés, shops and restaurants. You could be at the gateway to the Norfolk Broads in just over 45 minutes, a beautiful rural area offering a range of walking and cycling routes for the more active members of the family.     Tucked away down a country lane in a pretty Norfolk village, Grade ll listed Middle Cottage is the perfect place in which to relax and unwind, away from the stresses of modern life. A lavender lined path leads to the front door which takes you directly into the cosy living room with its warming wood burner, a great place to settle down with a good book or relax watching TV. The well-equipped kitchen/dining room, with its bespoke handmade kitchen units, has everything you will need to cook up a treat during your stay. If you don’t feel like cooking, there are plenty of super gastro pubs nearby to tempt you, one of which is within walking distance. Many places will also welcome your four-legged friend, making North Norfolk a haven for dogs.

    Outside the kitchen, you will find a little courtyard which leads to the summerhouse and pretty west-facing garden, a perfect spot for a sundowner or al fresco lunch in summer. Venture upstairs in the cottage and you will find the large and welcoming master bedroom with a kingsize bed, dressed in crisp white cotton sheets. Beyond this, a small landing leads you to a single bedroom and the bathroom, both of which enjoy lovely views over the garden and millpond beyond.

    The property is situated on a quiet village lane, leading down to a ford over the River Glaven. Situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, there are numerous walks nearby making the property ideal for walkers, dog owners, bird and wildlife enthusiasts, or anyone who enjoys being in the countryside and also near to the coast. There are many lovely walks in and around the Glaven Valley from nearby Bayfield Hall, Glandford, Wiveton and Hunworth.

    The attractive Georgian town of Holt is just over a mile away, where you can enjoy discovering its many original shops, galleries and cafés, often tucked away in hidden corners. If you like, you can walk to Holt from the cottage along a footpath with lovely views back over the Glaven Valley. You can also explore Holt Country Park, a 100-acre woodland with picnic areas, nature trails and a playground or catch a Poppy Line steam or diesel train to Weybourne and Sheringham from the North Norfolk railway station just outside Holt in the season. In July, Holt Festival brings the best in street performers, musicians, poets, actors, dancers, artists and comedians to the town.

    Middle Cottage is also 4½ miles from the coast at Blakeney. Explore the varied and beautiful North Norfok coast from the vast sandy beaches of Wells and Holkham, to the wild beauty of the salt marshes at Cley, Morston and Stiffkey and the traditional seaside resorts of Sheringham and Cromer. Discover traditional flint villages, magnificent stately homes such as Holkham, Blickling and Houghton Hall, and charming market towns such as Burnham Market. Visit internationally renowned nature reserves at Cley and Titchwell, or take a boat trip from Morston to see the seal colony on Blakeney Point. Beach 4½ miles. With beams throughout the sitting room, and a lovely wood burning stove to relax in front of, this former fisherman’s cottage is sure to delight. To the rear of the cottage, you will find grass and trees which is perfect for walking your dog, and the beach and Gold Park are only a few minutes’ walk away.
    If you have never been to Mundesley be prepared to be surprised because this sought-after North Norfolk seaside village is considered one of the finest in the area by the locals, and it most certainly has one of the best beaches on offer too. Packed with food shops, places to eat and drink and lots of great takeaways too, there really is everything you need right here.
    You may even be tempted to park up at Sea Amber and explore on-foot, but should you venture a little further, you will find all the highlights of Norfolk on your doorstep. Head to Cromer and have coffee or lunch on the famous pier, while doing a little people watching. Travel further along the coast and visit Blakeney Quay or head East and explore the rolling sand dunes and take a walk or horse and cart along the Golden Mile in Great Yarmouth until you hit all the fun of the fair at the Pleasure beach. You are very close to the beautiful Norfolk Broads here too.
    Head to nearby Wroxham and join a day tour to drift along the waterways. You can even charter your own launch from here and be captain of your own ship for the morning. From here you can also hop on the Bure Valley Railway which will take you across open countryside to the bustling market town of Aylsham where you can enjoy browsing in the wide selection of artisan shops or enjoy something to eat in one of the many cafés.
    For those who don’t like to drive to unfamiliar places, nearby North Walsham offers a mainline train station which will whisk you to Sheringham or Cromer or to the Broads and the medieval city of Norwich, a must for history buffs and shoppers alike. Add in The Felbrigg, Blickling, Holkham and Sandringham Estates, RSPB Cley Marshes, Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Sheringham Park, Bewilderwood, Amazonia Zoo, great walking, cycling routes and lots of celebrated golf courses too, and you will see why this part of the Norfolk coastline is firmly on the map for guests who return year after year. Deck chairs are available for hire and boat trips are available to visit the seals at Scroby Sands. There is a firework spectacular each Wednesday during the summer season. The town has shops, supermarkets, cafés, pubs, and a train station with regular service to other coastal villages and the city of Norwich, a shopper’s delight, a stadium for grey hound racing, stock car racing and horse racing. The area is filled with interesting villages and plenty of eateries to enjoy.
