    Centrally located in the old fishing village of Flamborough, this end of terrace town house is central for all amenities with a shop, pub, bakery and fish and chip shop just around the corner. Sea Thistle Cottage has an enclosed courtyard to the rear of the property and a small enclosed area to the front with it’s own parking space. Flamborough’s North Landing is famous for its smugglers caves and the walk between the North and South Landing is absolutely stunning. In fact for those of you who like the great outdoors there’s no better place than Flamborough for clifftop walks, bird watching and rock pooling. Walk along the clifftops to Bempton Cliffs where you will find one of the largest seabird colonies in the UK. On the white chalk cliffs you’ll see puffins, guillemots and kittiwakes as well as the seals down on the lower rocks. Flamborough is just north of Bridlington and between the two resorts you’ll find Danes Dyke, a local nature reserve. There are lots of woodland trails to follow and the children will enjoy the adventure of it all. Just along the coast from Danes Dyke you’ll find Sewerby Hall and its small zoo. The beautiful Georgian property is set in over 50 acres of beautiful parkland that overlooks the sea. You can easily spend a whole day at the hall with a tour of the grand house and then a wander around the gardens and zoo. There are lots of picnic areas with wonderful views out to sea. The children enjoy the zoo and the adults enjoy the magnificent gardens! The large seaside town of Bridlington is a short drive south from Flamborough and travelling north you have the resorts of Filey, Scarborough and Whitby. Yorkshire is famous for its stately homes and there are several within a short drive from the cottage. As well as Sewerby Hall there’s Sledmere House, Burton Constable, Burton Agnes Hall and the majestic Castle Howard. Hull, the UK city of culture for 2017 is less than an hour away by car and the same for York. Beach 650 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

    Puffin Cottage is the perfect name for this terraced property which is situated close to the internationally renowned RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs, where thousands of puffins adorn the chalk cliffs accompanied by many other seabirds such as guillemots, kittiwakes and fulmars. The cottage is full of nooks and crannies, and just what you would expect of a crooked old cottage built in the 1800s, and is full of character and charm. The garden is delightful with a lovely seating area, lawn and rockery, but most importantly its enclosed making it ideal for children and pets.

    The cottage is right on the border of Bempton and Buckton, and the village of Buckton has a small playground, village shop and a local pub. The resorts of Flamborough Head, Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington are all just a short drive away and you will have a wonderful time exploring these seaside resorts. For those who love the great outdoors, the cycling and walking in the area is some of the best you will find. The rugged coastline has spectacular walks along the clifftops.

    The city of York is just an hour’s drive away or easily accessible by train. Don’t miss this beautiful city during your holiday as it’s always voted as one of the top 10 cities to visit in the UK. There is so much to see and do in York for all age groups with lots of museums and theatres as well as street entertainers, independent shops and cafés. Beach 4 miles.     Tickton Hall is a 110-acre private country estate nestled at the end of a tree-lined drive just outside the historical market town of Beverley. The estate has wonderful, established woodlands and parklands with grazing horses in abundance, which you can see from many of the cottages’ windows. It is also home to the Beverley Polo Club with two polo pitches, a fabulous full-size arena and stabling for up to 60 horses. You just might be able to catch a polo match during your stay! You can even bring your horse on holiday with you, subject to availability at our Horse Hotel! These delightful, detached holiday properties (refs UKC458 and W44279) provide tastefully furnished bases from which to explore the area, or simply sit back and relax.
    There are superb walks straight from the cottage doors. Within the estate you can walk around the picturesque horse exercise course or the cross-country course, all within a couple of minutes of the cottages. Or if you are looking for a longer hike, the estate links to designated walks along the river bank that extend for miles.
    Beverley, 4 miles, is well known for its racecourse, minster and many boutiques and excellent coffee shops. The coast at Hornsea can be reached within 10 miles, with traditional amusements and promenade, and a wildlife centre at Hornsea Mere. York, a great place for a day out, is about an hour’s drive, and The Deep at Hull, one of the UK’s biggest aquariums, is about half an hour away. Beach 10 miles.
