Close by, visit the famous RSPB Bempton Cliffs, where you can observe puffins and gannets in their natural habitat. There are some fantastic walks and cycle rides along the rugged cliffs of the east coast, some of it being part of the Cleveland Way. Just 8 miles down the coast, visit the hustle and bustle of the traditional seaside resort of Bridlington. With its working fishing port, you can see the catch brought in on the quayside. There is also a large sandy beach and rock pools for the kids to go crabbing. The famous Spa theatre also provides excellent entertainment throughout the year. Guests can take a short land train journey to Sewerby Hall and Gardens, just one of the many stately homes in the area. Burton Agnes and Sledmere are also worth a visit and for those who would like a trip out; you have the fantastic medieval city of York, which is just over an hour away. Flamborough Head and the RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton are close by. See the puffins in their natural habitat, as well as kittiwakes, guillemots and gannets. There are many stately homes to visit in the area, including Burton Agnes Hall, Sledmere House and Castle Howard. Hull, the City of Culture 2017, and the medieval city of York can be reached within an hour by both car or train. The market towns of Beverley, Driffield and Pocklington, with their charming independent shops and cafes, are well worth a visit.
